                        by Keren Nechushtan
                        Keren Nechushtan is a
                        contemporary artist
                        creating functional artifacts,
                        mainly light fixtures and
                        Japanese blinds.

                        Keren's work is notably
                        characterized by a clean,
                        minimalistic appearance,
                        drawing inspiration largely
                        from Japanese motifs.

Keren's work is expressed by means of synthetic
as well as natural and industrial materials. These
crude materials are harnessed by Keren to create
most sleek designs, making the artifacts stand on
their own, independently as sculptures. Amongst
materials used are glass fibers, latex, polymers,
resins, acrylic glass, iron, leaves, twigs, handmade
paper and many more. The interaction of these
materials with the light which is radiating through
them forms a unique language between the inert
materials and the weightless light.

In this catalogue Keren is presenting her latest
collection of light fixtures. Her work is
photographed here in a chosen location of a
sculpture studio. The sculptures and old furniture
as well as the crude ambiance are complementary
to Keren's work.

The sun is a ball of flaming joy
Light waves and ripples in the sea of darkness
Dancing with the light
Light will showyou the way
Inert materials interact with weightless beams of light
Live in rooms full of light
Better to light a candle than curse the darkness
