To Whom It May Concern:
I am lvriting this ietter in recognition of the excellentwork Karim Hamir producec during his
internship with the King County ProsecutingAttorney's Office. Karirn was a Ruie 9 Intera in
the Office under my direct supenrisionfrom Januaryto April, 2003. Karirn, in hs rhiro yearof
law school, was askedto perform thejob responsibilitiesequaito our first yeardeputy
prosecutors. He carneto our offi.cewith little experiencean<iwasrequired to learn quickly. iie
roseto the occasionand exceededmy expectations.
Karim was a prosecutorin our Disfiict Couri Unit. His caseloadof misdemeanorcrimes
included handling bail heariogs,arraignments,pleanegotiations,pre-trial mctions andtrials.
Karim appearedin court twice daily to handlethe first appearancecaiendarin the srorning and
pre-trial andmotions hearingsin the afternoon.
I personally observedKarim during two trials, ffi well asseveraitimes a week in otirer court
maffers. He was alwayspreparedanddevelopeda gooCreputation amonghis feiiow
prosecutors, the defensebar andthejudges he appearedbefbre. His courtroom skiils w'erebetter
than thoseof the averagenew prosecutorI supervise. By the endof his internship, Karirn
handledpre-trial motions capably,successfullyandwithout supervision.
Perhapsmost importantly, I found Kanm to be a capableandtrustworthy prosecutor. l{e
prosecutedhis casesdiligently andwith little supervision. If unforeseenmattersaroseon his
calendars,he exercisedgoodjudgment in handling the matter andah,r'aysinforrned me of the
issueassoonaspossible. The King Counly ProsecutingAttorney's Office was fortunateto iiar,'e
him asan intern.
I am confident Karim will do weli in his legal career, andhopehe continuesic 'arorkasa
prosecutor.
Sincerely,
.4'/'
