Significance
 Juvenile delinquency is now arise as a biggest problem in our society. We must think
about preventing these crimes and try to grow an educated and understanding
generation. If we can sort out the causes & consequences of this social problem then
hopefully someday, we will see a new world where the innocence has been
restored. So I took this topic as my seminar project work.
What Is Juvenile Delinquency
Delinquency is not clearly defined because some laws are vague or loosely worded. Crime
committed by children & adolescents under statutory age is called juvenile delinquency. The

one of the main reasons for

 Poor economic background is also
another important cause for

 A child below 7 years of age cannot be prosecuted and will not have to enter the juvenile justice system as a
juvenile in conflict with law but can fall within the definition of child in need of care and protection, under
juvenile justice system
 In present law’s till 18 years age is considered as juvenile criminal. In this issue 6th August,2014 Juvenile
Justice Act(JJA) 2000 took some reformation acts.
 children in need of care and protection, by providing for proper care, protection and treatment.
 The JJB on orders received from the State Government may order a juvenile (16 - 18 years) to be kept under
protective custody if offense of a very serious nature is committed and the juvenile’s conduct and behavior is
such that the measures provided under this Act is not suitable or sufficient.
 No juvenile in conflict with law shall be sentenced to death or imprisonment for any term which may extend to
imprisonment for life
 Proper attention to children.
 Comprehensive policies and
strategies.
 Importance of schools.
 By giving proper education.
 Requires efforts on the part of the
entire society.

facilities required to be a good citizen.
