‘Entrepreneur India’, a monthly magazine published by NPCS, is aimed at simplifying the process of choosing the suitable project for investment. It makes business decisions easier and trouble-free by providing a list of right projects for investment. Unique among project investment magazines, ‘Entrepreneur India’ is dedicated to the business of identifying sound investment projects. Every issue consists of a new list of projects which are meticulously selected by the NPCS team after being screened on various investment factors. NPCS team, before labeling a project as ‘Right investment’, studies various aspects of investment like product demand, market potential, raw material availability, suitable location, payback period, costs involved and breakeven point.
The importance of project identification is known to less and many a times, entrepreneurs spend substantial time and resources on project planning, execution and control, while little attention is paid to project assessment and selection. Such times lead to disastrous business decisions and often a project is declared a ‘dead investment’. Most entrepreneurs, these days, have the capital but not the expertise to shortlist a suitable project to park their money. And ‘Entrepreneur India’ helps remove such hurdles for a businessman to ensure successful ventures and expansions.
Correct project identification is a herculean task for any entrepreneur who is willing to expand or venture and he is often faced with the dilemma of identifying a suitable project that has minimum risk to his capital and has high growth potential. Through this journal we aim to educate and enlighten entrepreneurs about such projects and provide them with an updated list of profitable ventures with its project profile and project cost estimation (i.e. Plant Capacity, Plant & Machinery Cost, Working Capital, Total Capital Investment, Rate of Return and Break Event Point).
Also, the magazine provides a snapshot of NPCS activities in a month. It includes brief profiles of several market research reports, project identification reports and books published by the company. The magazine has nationwide reach and a substantial readership.
We at NPCS, ensure that business ventures and expansions happen but only in the right projects and at the right cost.

Production of Ethanol from Grains: Corn, Wheat, Sugarcane & Barley | Profitable Business Opportunity
Ethanol is considered the first generation of biofuels. Starch, sugar, and vegetable oil are used to make this fuel. It's made commercially from decomposing corn and wheat. Ethanol-producing plants are referred to as bio refineries. This is because they transform grain biomass into ethanol using live enzymes and microorganisms.
Production and Processing of Turpentine Oil. Fractionation of Turpentine Oil
Turpentine (also called spirit of turpentine, oil of turpentine, wood turpentine and colloquially turps) is a fluid obtained by the distillation of resin obtained from live trees, mainly pines. It is mainly used as a solvent and as a source of materials for organic synthesis. Turpentine is composed of terpenes, mainly the monoterpenes alpha-pinene and beta-pinene with lesser amounts of carene, camphene, dipentene, and terpinolene.
Turpentine oil is made from the resin of certain pine trees. It is used as medicine.
Turpentine oil is a multicomponent mixture of turpene hydrocarbons, and its composition depends to a great extent on the nature of the raw material. Turpentine oil is widely used in industry as a solvent for varnishes and paints and as a raw material in the production of camphor, terpin hydrate, Flotation Oil, lubricating oils, insecticides, and perfumes. In medicine, turpentine oil is used in a preparation that acts as a local stimulant, anesthetic, and antiseptic. It is used externally in ointments for neuralgia and myositis.

Waste to Wealth-Value Recovery from Agricultural and Industrial Biomass Residues. Furfural from Lignocellulosic Biomass. Production of Furfural from Sugarcane Bagasse and Corncobs.
The concept of waste as a material “which has no use” is changing to that of seeing waste as a resource by converting into secondary material with modification. Wastes can thus be converted into useful resources used at home or even sold for wealth. Waste recycling involves the collection of discarded materials such as Sugarcane Bagasse, Corncobs etc and processing these materials, and turning them into new products.

Great opportunities in production of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid (LABSA)
Inorganic chemistry's linear alkyl benzene sulfonate is a valuable commodity. Sulfonation of linear alkyl benzene yields alkyl benzene sulfonate, which is used to make detergents and surfactants for ore flotation. For penoizol, it's used as a foaming agent. Although the LABSA has been around for 75 years, its widespread use began in the 1960s due to its excellent primary biodegradability.

The Future of Farming: Hydroponic Greenhouse Farming. Starting a Commercial H...Ajjay Kumar Gupta
The science of soil-less gardening is called hydroponics. It basically involves growing healthy plants without the use of a traditional soil medium by using a nutrient like a mineral rich water solution instead. A plant just needs select nutrients, some water, and sunlight to grow. Not only do plants grow without soil, they often grow a lot better with their roots in water instead.
Hydroponics is a system of agriculture that utilizes nutrient-laden water rather than soil for plant nourishment. The re-use of nutrient water supplies makes process-induced eutrophication (excessive plant growth due to overabundant nutrients) and general pollution of land and water unlikely, since runoff in weather-independent facilities is not a concern. Aeroponic and hydroponic systems do not require pesticides, require less water and space than traditional agricultural systems, and may be stacked (if outfitted with led lighting) in order to limit space use (vertical farming). This makes them optimal for use in cities, where space is particularly limited and populations are high-self-sustaining city-based food systems mean a reduced strain on distant farms, the reduction of habitat intrusions, fewer food miles, and fewer carbon emissions.

Production of Sterile Water for Injection. WFI (Water for Injection) Manufact...Ajjay Kumar Gupta
Sterilized Water is water that has been sterilized, to ensure an absence of any bacteria in the water. It is used for mixing infant formula for babies, for people with compromised immune systems, and to dilute or dissolve water soluble drugs for injections.
Sterile water is water that has no microorganisms living within it. As it cannot transfer pathogens, it is used mainly in the medical setting. Sterile water, though sometimes distilled, is not the same thing as distilled water. As some microorganisms can survive at high temperatures, simply boiling water may not be enough to sterilize it. Special, but not uncommon, equipment is required if one wishes to sterilize water.

Beer and Whisky Production. Start an Alcoholic Beverages Manufacturing Business
Beer
Beer is one of the oldest and most widely consumed alcoholic drinks in the world. It is also the third most popular drink overall after water and tea. Beer is brewed from cereal grains—most commonly from malted barley, though wheat, maize (corn), and rice are also used. During the brewing process, fermentation of the starch sugars in the produces ethanol and carbonation in the resulting beer. Most modern beer is brewed with hops, which add bitterness and other flavors and act as a natural preservative and stabilizing agent. Other flavoring agents such as fruit, herbs, or fruits may be included or used instead of hops. In commercial brewing, the natural carbonation effect is often removed during processing and replaced with forced carbonation.

Mustard oil is a fatty vegetable oil extracted from the mustard seeds. It is dark yellow in color and slightly pungent. There are generally three types of mustard oils depending upon the manner of extraction. The first is a fatty vegetable oil obtained by pressing the mustard seeds. The second one is a essential oil that is made by grinding the seeds, mixing them with water and extracting the oil through distillation. The third process involves infusing mustard seed extract with other vegetable oils such as soy bean oil. All three categories of oil have a pungent nutty taste and a strong aroma.

Potato flakes are the most important form of dehydrated potato products, which also include potato granules, pellets, powder, shredded and sliced potato. Dehydrated potato flakes are made by pressing cooked mashed potatoes onto a drum drier, which forms a sheet that can be broken up and ground to the required density. Potato flakes can be used anywhere, where one would use mashed potatoes. They are also used in commercially available products, like instant mashed potatoes, pasta and fabricated snacks. As a thickener, they enhance creamy frozen desserts, gravies and chocolate milk.

Tall oil, a by-product of kraft pulping of pine wood, is formed by acidifying black liquor soap skimmings. It consists of resin acids or rosin, fatty acids, and neutrals. Crude tall oil is an excellent source of rosin and tall oil fatty acid, an industrial-grade oleic and linoleic acid blend. The bulk of the neutrals, largely esters of fatty acids, sterols, resin and wax alcohols, and hydrocarbons, boil at either lower or higher temperatures than the boiling range of the fatty and resin acids.

True gums are formed from the disintegration of internal plant tissues, mostly from the decomposition of cellulose in a process called gummosis. Gums contain high amounts of sugar and are closely allied to the pectins. Gums are especially common in plants of dry regions. They are used primarily as adhesives, and are also used in printing and finishing textiles, as a sizing for paper, in the paint and candy industries and as drugs.
Resins are formed as oxidation products of various essential oils and are very complex and varied in chemical composition.

Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) is a white,
crystalline substance with a strong odor and
pungent taste, derived from the wood of camphor
laurel (Cinnamomum camphora) and other

Modern uses include camphor as a plasticizer for

coating, and is therefore stored in tool chests to
protect tools against rust.

Readymade Garments
(T-Shirt)
Readymade garments are a part of our daily
life. Clothes are an epitome of a culture.
People in different parts of the world have their
own styles of dressing which symbolize their
culture and status. The Readymade garments
industry is increasing day by day due to changes
of fashion in day to day life. The textile industry
including readymade garments occupies an
unique position in the Indian economy. Its
predominant presence in the Indian economy is
manifested in terms of its significant contribution
to the industrial production, employment
generation and foreign exchange earnings.
The changes in the life style since the onset of
the liberalization era, and given the base of the
industry for the overseas market, Indian garments
industry have taken big strides. The entry of the
Indian and global fashion designers has stimulated
the market further. With the rising tailoring costs
and relatively low prices of standardized products,
the Indian consumer is increasingly taking to
readymade.
In the past, the readymade market was confined
mainly to baby dresses and small manila-shirts and
dress shirts. Now it has extended to trousers, suits,
and lady dresses and, of course, fashion garments for
men and women. Readymade garments are basically
used for wearing purposes. It is used by all class of
people. No need to mention that T-Shirts are used in

Biscuits & Candy
Biscuits are an important product in human
diet and are usually eaten with tea and are
also used as weaning food for infants.Around the
world Biscuits is the principal food and provides
more nutrients than any other single food source.
Biscuits are one of the important bakery items
and can be used whole day irrespective of time. It
is very common for morning breakfast and also
used as snacks. Biscuits are generally classified
into soft biscuits, hard biscuits and crackers.
Biscuit doughs are made mainly from flour, fat,
sugar and water, with minor amounts of flavor,
colors, and aerating agents and possibly eggs and
fruits.
Candy or Sweet is the most popular type of
confectionery over the world, and there is certainly
something about this unique product that holds many
mysterious qualities. Generally candies are available
in fruit based flavors or Milk based flavor and
sometimes with centre filling also. There are so many
flavours available in the market i.e. orange, pineapple,
mango, mint, pan, strawberry, grapes etc. and are
having good demand among the children. The Indian
biscuit market is estimated at around 2 mn tonnes
per annum of which the unorganised sector accounts
for over 50% of the market share. The unorganised
sector is composed of some 30,000 small and tiny
bakeries across the country.
The organised industry includes two large units,
about 50 medium scale and approximately 2,500 small
scale industry (SSI) units manufacturing biscuits and

LDPE/LLDPE Pouch Films
Plastic, today, is being increasingly utilized in
almost every industry and activity. Its use has
become indispensable due mainly to certain
inherent properties like light weight, corrosion of
chemical resistance etc. Plastic in many areas is
not only a strong substitute but superior as well.
To cite an example packaging industry now
depends on plastic for packaging of milk, edible
oils, snacks etc. and co-extruded films are
predominantly used in this direction.
It has been observed that in the domestic and
international market, more particularly for developing
countries such water pouches do not have any
protection from direct sunlight exposure. Therefore,
such water pouches produces offensive odour in the
water within one or two days.
Linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) is a
substantially linear polymer (polyethylene), with
significant numbers of short branches, commonly
made by copolymerization of ethylene with longer-
chain olefins. LLDPE has penetrated almost all
traditional markets for polyethylene; it is used for
plastic bags and sheets (where it allows using lower

This means that after hot rolling and pickling,
the steel is cold rolled to a reduced thickness which
is then followed by annealing in a closed atmosphere
of nitrogen or other non-oxidizing gases (which
softens it back up while protecting it from oxidation).
The cold rolling mills use hot rolled strips as their
raw materials in widths according to the full sizes.
Cold rolled M.S. strips find uses is various types of
down-stream industries such as in rolling shutter,
cycle, motor cycle, filter industries, pipes and tubes,
chemical and plastic industries for reaction vessels,
storage tanks, automobile industries etc. There is a
good demand of cold rolled M.S. strips and sheets in

Tomato Paste (Tomato
Concentrate)
Tomatoes are the most popular vegetable in
the home garden. Tomatoes are widely grown
in all parts of the world. They are available in a
variety of sizes, shapes, and colors—including red,
yellow, orange, and pink. Tomatoes may be round,
oblate (fruit are ûattened at the top and bottom),
or pear-shaped. Tomatoes are low in calories and
a good source of vitamin C and antioxidants. With
their rich flavor and mild acidity, tomatoes have
worked their way into thousands of recipes.
Products, such as tomato paste/puree have
potential demand with local fruit / vegetable
processors as well as the retail market. They are an
excellent sources of antioxidants, dietary fiber,
minerals, and vitamins. On account of their all round
qualities, dieticians and nutritionists often
recommend them in cholesterol controlling and
weight reduction diet programs.
Due to increasing standards of living in the cities
and the rapid urbanization taking place in the rural
areas, consumption of tomato based products is
expected to go up steadily. Tomato processing industry
is the pioneering sector in food processing industry.
Although the dominant traditional processing line is
tomato paste processing, peeled and diced tomatoes
are the other promising products.

Biodegradable Disposable
Cups and Plates
Agricultural wastes constitute one of the main
alternative raw materials for the pulp and
paper industry. Wheat straw, bagasse, reed, and
rice straw as a one of the important non-wood
fibers sources for pulping and paper making. Waste
disposal is one of the most important problems
facing anyone who wants to live an eco-friendly
lifestyle. So many of the things we use every day
get tossed in the trash and end up buried at the
bottom of a landfill or down cycled into less useful
products.
Bagasse is commonly used as a substitute for
wood in many tropical and subtropical countries for
the production of pulp, paper and board, such as
India, China, Colombia, Iran, Thailand and Argentina.
It produces pulp with physical properties that are
well suited for generic printing and writing papers as
well as tissue products but it is also widely used for
boxes and newspaper production.
Due to the recent change in the life style of urban
class the demand for disposable cups is increasing at
a rapid rate. Apart from being used at home, they
also come in handy during parties, picnics and other
functions and get-togethers. Plastic disposable cups
are also used by Ice-cream industry, hotels,
restaurants, canteens etc. but the major customer of
disposable cups is ice-cream industry and they have
started using plastic cups instead of paper ones that
were being used earlier.

Pomegranate Farming
Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is an ancient
favorite table fruit of tropical and sub-tropical
regions of the world. The fruit is symbolic of plenty
and very much liked for its cool, refreshing juice
and valued for its medicinal properties. It retains
its flavor and as such can keep well for over a
year if it is properly filtered, bottled and preserved
by using 0.1 per cent sodium benzoate. The juice
of pomegranate is believed to be good for leprosy
patients. The grains of the fruit are also eaten
fresh in most of the hot countries and are used
as condiment. The bark and rind of the fruits are
commonly used in dysentery and diarrhea. The
rind is also used as dying material for cloth. Dried
seeds of pomegranate seeds with pulp are
available as ‘Anardana’.
Pomegranate is a thick skinned super seedy fruit,
with a brilliant red hue which is now touted as a
wonder fruit. The rind of the fruit and the bark of the
pomegranate tree are used as a traditional remedy
against diarrhea, dysentery, and intestinal parasites.
The seeds and juice are considered a tonic for the
heart and throat, and classified as having bitter-
astringent taste plus a range of taste from sweet to

considered a healthful counterbalance to a diet high
in sweet-fatty (kapha or earth) components.
Pomegranate seeds are also used in salads and
sometimes as garnish for desserts.
With the export market for pomegranates picking
up, farmers across Maharashtra are switching to the
fruit, which is more remunerative than grapes.
Maharashtra contributes 90% of the country’s total

Dragon Fruits Farming
Apitaya or pitahaya is the fruit of several cactus
species. “Pitaya” usually refers to fruit of the
genus Stenocereus, while “pitahaya” or “dragon
fruit” always refers to fruit of the genus
Hylocereus. Dragonfruit stems are scandent
(climbing habit), creeping, sprawling or clambering,
and branch profusely. There can be 4-7 of them,
between 5 and 10 m or longer, with joints from
30–120 cm or longer, and 10–12 cm thick; with
generally three ribs; margins are corneous (horn-
like) with age, and undulate. These fruits are
commonly known in English as “Dragon Fruit”,
reflecting its vernacular Asian names.
Dragon fruit or Pitaya grows best in uniformly
distributed rainfall throughout the year. It prefers
free draining soil with sandy to clay loam types, 5.3 to
6.7 pH and high organic matter. However, Pitaya is
also grown successfully in sandy soils. Pitaya is shallow
rooted with most roots concentrated on top 15- 30
cm soil depth.
Dragon Fruit is low in cholesterol content and
has no unhealthy cholesterol fats that harm the
human body. It consists of a small amount of healthy
monounsaturated fats because the fruit contains
many seeds in its edible part. It is also best known for
its cleansing properties of the digestive system. The
fibers in the fruit help to get better bowel movements.
It is also a good solution for constipation. Dragon
fruit helps to decrease the irritation of joints, so it is
called as an anti inflammatory fruit.
Wine, Serbat and Jam from Dragon Fruit is
gaining market in India. So many Farms in Pune and
Tamil Nadu stared cultivation of Dragon fruit with
latest irrigation technology for higher yield.

Stevia Farming
The Stevia plant belongs to the Compositae
(sunflower family of plants). Centuries ago,
Natives of Paraguay used the leaves of this small,
herbaceous, semi-bushy, perennial shrub to
sweeten their bitter drinks. Originating in the
South American wild, it could be found growing
in semi-arid habitat ranging from grassland to
scrub forest to mountain terrain. The plant made
its way to Pacific Rim countries, where in recent
decades it became cultivated domestically, used
in its raw leaf form and now is commercially
processed into sweetener.
The plant closely resembles to sunflower,
marigolds etc. of family Asteraceae It has herbaceous
growth habit. Stevia is a small shrubby perennial
growing up to 65 cm tall. Stevia rebaudiana (Bert.) is
a herbaceous perennial plant of the family
Asteraceae.
Stevia can be used in dairy products, fruit dishes,
beverages and fresh desserts. It can be combined
with sugars, molasses, honey, maple syrup, etc. Stevia
has a few following excellent properties: It is diabetic-
safe natural sweetening agent.
It is non-caloric .It is 50-400 times sweeter than
white sugar .It has no adverse effect on blood sugar
levels. It is not toxic .It inhibits the formation of
cavities and plaque .It has no artificial ingredients. It
can be used in various food preparation, receipes, in
baking and cooking.

Municipal Solid Waste
Management
Due to rapid increase in the production and
consumption processes, societies generate
as well as reject solid materials regularly from
various sectors – agricultural, commercial,
domestic, industrial and institutional. The
considerable volume of wastes thus generated
and rejected is called solid wastes. In other words,
solid wastes are the wastes arising from human
and animal activities that are normally solid and
are discarded as useless or unwanted. This
inevitably places an enormous strain on natural
resources and seriously undermines efficient and
sustainable development. One of the ways to
salvage the situation is through efficient
management of solid wastes.
There has been a significant increase in MSW
(Municipal Solid Waste) generation in India in the
last few decades. This is largely because of rapid
population growth and economic development in the
country. Solid waste management has become a major
environmental issue in India .The limited revenues
earmarked for the municipalities make them ill-
equipped to provide for high costs involved in
the collection, storage, treatment, and proper disposal
of MSW. As a result, a substantial part of the MSW
generated remains unattended and grows in the
heaps at poorly maintained collection centres.
Waste management market is expected to be
worth US$ 13.62 billion by 2025. Indian municipal
solid waste (MSW) management market is expected
to grow at a CAGR of 7.14% by 2025 while e-waste
management market is expected to grow at a CAGR
of 10.03% during the same period.

Hospital with Teaching
Facility
A hospital as a health care organization has
been defined in varied terms as an institution
involved in preventive, curative/ameliorative,
palliative or rehabilitative services. However, the
definition given by WHO is quite exhaustive and
exclusive, in which it is defined as, ‘an integral
part of the medical and social organization which
is to provide for the population complete health
care, both curative and preventive; and whose
out patient services reach out into the family in
its home environment. The hospital is also a
centre for the training of health workers and for
bio-social research’.
Hospitals, these days, also provide bio-social
research; teaching and training faciliyies for all
members of the hospital, and a health team which
includes not only doctors and nurses, but also para-
professionals, paramedicals, pharmacists, etc.
operationally, a hospital could be viewed as consisting
of service facilities for out-patient, in-patient, general
wards, emergency, special wards, Intensive Care Units,
operation theatre, delivery suite; and support
services, such as, pharmacy, radiology and imaging,
CSSD, blood bank, laboratory, etc.

Edible Oil Refinery
The oil palm, Elaeis guineensis, is native to
Africa. The commercial values of this crop lies
mainly in the oil that can be obtained from the
mesocarp of the fruit - palm oil and the kernel of
the nut - palm kernel oil. In fact, oil palm is the
only fruit that can give these two types of oil.
Both are edible oils but with very different
chemical composition, physical properties and
applications.
Palm oil is used mainly for cooking such as cooking
oil, margarine and shortening but also has non-food
applications such as soap, detergent, cosmetics.
Among the food uses, refined, bleached and
deodorised (RBD) olein is used mainly as cooking and
frying oils, shortenings and margarine while RBD
stearin is used for the production of shortenings and
margarine. RBD palm oil, which is the unfractionated
palm oil, is used for producing margarine, shortenings,
vanaspati (vegetable ghee), frying fats and ice cream.
Soybean oil is a rich source of essential fatty acids,
both linoleic and linolenic acid. These
polyunsaturated fatty acids are important key to
prevent cardiovascular diseases by lowering serum
cholesterol through reducing lipoprotein ( LDL )
synthesis and increasing lipoprotein breakdown, as
well as by the effect of linolenic acid. Linolenic acid
reduces plaque formation and thrombosis by
decreasing platelet aggregation, promoting prostagl
and in E3 synthesis.

Cold Storage
India is the largest producer of fruits and second
largest producer of vegetables in the world.
Fruits & vegetables, being perishable in nature
require certain techniques of preservation for
retaining the freshness intact and making them
an acceptable item even after few days of ripening.
It also facilitates the farmer to realize a better
price instead of selling the product at a throw
away price due to the perishability. This necessity
as evolved a new concept of storing these items
at below or just above sub-zero temperatures
known as cold storage. Introduction of Cold
storage / Cold room facility will help them in
removing the risk of distress sale and
simultaneously will ensure better returns. The
annual production of fruits and vegetables in the
country accounts for 18 to 20% of our agriculture
output. Varied agro climatic conditions and better
availability of scientific package of practices, there
is a vast scope for increasing the production.
Cold Storage is a special kind of room, the
temperature of which is kept very low with the help
of machines and precision instruments. India is having
a unique geographical position and a wide range of
soil, thus producing variety of fruits and vegetables
like apples, grapes, oranges, potatoes, chillies, ginger,
etc. Marine products are also being produced in large
quantities due to large coastal areas. As per 2008-09
figures, India produces around 215 Million Tons of
Fruits and Vegetables, 3 Billion Tons of Marine
Products, 109 Million Tons of Milk, 56 Billion Eggs
and 38 Million Tons of Meat per annum. Commercially
apples, potatoes, oranges, etc are stored on large
scale in the cold storages. Other important costly
raw materials like dry fruits, chemicals, essences and
processed foods like fruit juice/pulp, concentrate
dairy products, frozen meat, fish and eggs are also
stored in cold storages to regulate marketing
channels of these products. Therefore, it is a good
project for entrepreneurs to invest.
USES
Cold storage is used to preserve fruits and
vegetables. Once they are kept in the cold storage,
they do not get spoiled even after many months.
Sometimes, in production season of certain vegetable
or fruit crops, the demand for those thing decreases,
which in turn decreases the consumption in surplus
amount of that particular item and it is kept in a cold
storage.

Calcium Carbonate
(Activated & Precipitated)
Sizing Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC)—
also known as purified, refined or synthetic
calcium carbonate. It has the same chemical
formula as other types of calcium carbonate, such
as limestone, marble and chalk: CaCO3. The
calcium, carbon and oxygen atoms can arrange
themselves in three different ways, to form three
different calcium carbonate minerals. The most
common arrangement for both precipitated and
ground calcium carbonates is the hexagonal form
known as calcite.
Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), a
manufactured form of calcium carbonate, is made by
first hydrating high-calcium quicklime, and then
reacting the resulting slurry or “milk-of lime” with
carbon dioxide. The resulting product is extremely
white and has a uniformly small particle size. It has
numerous uses, most notably in the paper industry.

varying types. Disinfectant is a general term used
to describe a broad class of chemicals employed
to destroy harmful bacteria, fungi and other
microorganisms. They are part of many of the
products like household cleaners, tooth pastes,
shaving creams. Widerange of chemical products
are classified as disinfectants. These include
Chlorine and chloro compounds, Iodine and
Iodophors, alcohols, aldehydes, phenols,
quaternary ammonium compounds. This group
of specialty chemicals is a fast growing segment.
Phenyl type disinfectants fall in the category of
black oil disinfectants and are extensively used for
sanitation purposes, for drains, floor, stables etc. and
are prepared from coal tar distillates containing high
boiling tar acids. These are, however, less, affected
in contact with organic matter. Phenyl is being used
since very beginning for killing insects grown in
nallahas, lavatory and kooradan. Most of the diseases
causes due to insects. White phenyl (phenyle) is most
suitable to fight dirt and germs in the house including
kitchen appliances, carpets and other items. It is
basically an agent, which destroys pathogenic
organism, and hence its uses are numerous. It is
extensively used in for sanitation purposes for drains,
floors, stables, etc. As these are slightly soluble in
water, have to be emulsified for use as disinfections.
White phenyl is finding wide spread use and
acceptance as hard surface cleaner to remove greasy,
fatty and oily soils or various non-porous hard
surfaces like floors, bathrooms marbles, ceramics,
metals, plastics, concrete, granite, walls, cabinet,

PVC Wire & Cables
The generation, transmission, and distribution
of power involve electrical facilities, apparatus,
and components, to carry the electrical energy
from its generating site to where it is utilized. An
important part of this power system is the cable
system that is used exclusively to carry power
from the main substations to secondary
substations at load centers. Low-voltage cable is
used to distribute power from the load centers to
utilization equipment in conduits and ducts, even
though other methods such as cable trays, direct
burial for outdoor applications, and aerial cable
are used. Electrical, mechanical, and
environmental considerations are the main
factors in selecting and applying cable systems
for distribution and utilization of electrical power.
Cables are the source of carrying power and signal
in power plants, refineries, process industries. Cable
network can carry fire from one place to another in
the event of fire caused due to external sources or
due to short circuit. Power cable industry in India is
eyeing an estimated Rs 50 bn market to unfold. About
78,000 MW of power generation capacity and 60,000
circuit km of transmission network are projected to
be added by 2012 according to the Eleventh Five Year
Plan. Capex required for every MW of power generating
capacity is about Rs 40 mn. Expenditure required in

because of its versatility as a chemical
intermediate for other organic chemicals. As a
beverage ethanol (Ethyl alcohol) had been
prepared and used long ago by the Egyptians. For
hundreds of years alcoholic beverages have been
taxed to generate government revenue all over
the world. When ethanol emerged as a key
industrial raw material the alcohol tax was
recognized as a burden to many essential
manufacturing industries. To achieve this
denaturants were added to ethyl alcohol to make
them unfit for drinking. The Denatured alcohol
are either completely denatured alcohol or
specially denatured alcohol. Methylated spirit is
also denatured alcohol available freely without
any government restriction for industrial use.
It is also cheap as compared to alcoholic
beverages. Country liquor has been made from
rectified spirit and is available at after double price.
Country liquor from rectified spirit bottled and sealed
is a most popular from product being extensively used
by common mass everywhere. It is used in winter,
summer and all seasons as a cheap and affordable
intoxicant most by low & middle class people.
Alcoholic and non-Alcoholic beverages are directly
consumed in hotels, bars, restaurants, and other
places. These are consumed in every seasons, and
everyday. People become happy and cheerful after
drinking the beverages. Extra neutral alcohol is mainly
used to make a very high quality potable alcohol used
by liquor industries for the production of branded
alcoholic drinks.
(eg. canes, vodkas, gins, rums, liqueurs and
aperitifs). Ethanol (Ethyl Alcohol or Grain Alcohol) is
commonly used in alcohol. The growing popularity of

Cement Plant
Cement is a material with adhesive and
cohesive properties which make it capable
of bonding minerals fragments into a compact
whole. It can be defined as any substance, which
can join unite two or more pieces of some other
substance together to form a unit mass. It is an
inorganic, non-metallic substance with hydraulic
binding properties, and is used as a bonding agent
in building materials. It is a fine powder, usually
gray in color that consists of a mixture of the
hydraulic cement minerals to which one or more
forms of calcium sulfate have been added. Mixed
with water it forms a paste, which hardens due
to formation of cement mineral hydrates. Cement
is the binding agent in concrete, which is a
combination of cement, mineral aggregates and
water. Concrete is a key building material for a
variety of applications.
Cement, as used in construction industries,
which when mixed with water and allowed to set
and harden can join different components or
members together to give a mechanically strong
structure. Thus cement can be used as bonding
material for bricks or for bonding solid particles of

different sizes (rubber masonry) to form a monolith.
The most common use for cement is in the
production of concrete. Concrete is a composite
material consisting of aggregate (gravel and sand),
cement, and water.
As a construction material, concrete can be cast
in almost any shape desired, and once hardened,
can become a structural (load bearing) element.
Indian cement industry, a leading manufacturing sub-
sector in India, entered a new era after the partial
decontrol in 1982 and near total free market in 1989,
ahead of the dawn of the liberalisation era in the
country. The industry was totally delicensed in 1991
under the Industries Development and Regulation
Act. India is the second largest producer of cement in
the world after China. It is followed by Japan and the
USA. As a whole it is a good project for entrepreneurs
to invest.

Fire Fighting Foam
Fire-fighting foam is a foam used for fire
suppression. Its role is to cool the fire and to
coat the fuel, preventing its contact with oxygen,
resulting in suppression of the combustion. Fire-
fighting foam was invented by the Russian
engineer and chemist Aleksandr Loran in 1902.
The surfactants used must produce foam in
concentration of less than 1%. Other components of
fire-retardant foams are organicsolvents (e.g.,
trimethyltrimethylene glycol and hexylene glycol),
foam stabilizers (e.g., lauryl alcohol), and corrosion
inhibitors.
Low-expansion foams have an expansion rate
less than 20 times. Foams with expansion ratio
between 20 and 200 are medium-expansion. Low-
expansion foams such as AFFF are low-viscosity,
mobile, and able to quickly cover large areas.
High-expansion foams have an expansion ratio
over 200 - 1000. They are suitable for enclosed spaces
such as hangars, where quick filling is needed. Every
type of foam has its application. High-expansion foams
are used when an enclosed space, such as a
basement or hangar, must be quickly filled. Low-
expansion foams are used on burning spills. AFFF is
best for spills of jet fuels, FFFP is better for cases
where the burning fuel can form deeper pools, and
AR-AFFF is suitable for burning alcohols. These are
excellent for extinguishing hydrocarbons fuel fires. A
vapor suppressing aqueous film is formed by the foam
concentrate draining from the expanded foam
blanket. Indian fire protection market is expanding
to meet the growing demand from the user segment.
Large office space, technology parks, commercial
complexes, airports, petrochemical complexes,
manufacturing ventures are expanding and these
ventures continue to support the growth of the fire
protection demand in the country.

Bamboo Sticks
Bamboo is a tribe of flowering perennial
evergreen plants in the grass family Poaceae,
subfamily Bambusoideae, tribe Bambuseae;
although, the forestry services and departments
of many countries where bamboo is utilized as a
building material consider bamboo to be a forestry
product, and it is specifically harvested as a tree
exclusively for the wood it produces, which in
many ways is a wood superior in strength and
resilience to other natural, fibrous building
materials. In fact it is often referred to as a tree by
cultures who harvest it as wood. Giant bamboos
are the largest members of the grass family. In
bamboos, the internodal regions of the stem are
hollow and the vascular bundles in the cross
section are scattered throughout the stem
instead of in a cylindrical arrangement. The
dicotyledonous woody xylem is also absent. The
absence of secondary growth wood causes the
stems of monocots, even of palms and large
bamboos, to be columnar rather than tapering.

Denim Cloth
Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced twill
textile in which the weft passes under two
or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces
the familiar diagonal ribbing of the denim that
distinguishes it from cotton duck.
It is a characteristic of most indigo denim that
only the warp threads are dyed, whereas the weft
threads remain plain white. As a result of the warp-
faced twill weaving, one side of the textile then shows
the blue warp threads and the other side shows the
white weft threads.
This is why blue jeans are white on the inside.
The indigo dyeing process, in which the core of the
warp threads remains white, creates denim’s fading
characteristics, which are unique compared to every
other textile.
The denim will usually fade, which is considered
desirable by some people. During the process of wear,
fading will usually occur on those parts of the article
that receive the most stress. In a pair of jeans, these
parts include the upper thighs, the ankles, and the
areas behind the knees. Most dry denim is made with
100% cotton and comes from several different
countries.
DENIM FABRICS
Denim is a strong, durable fabric constructed in a
twill weave with indigo and white yarns. The blue/
indigo yarns are the lengthwise or “warp” threads
(parallel to the selvage). The white yarns run across
the fabric width (the weft threads). Denim is
traditionally woven with 100%-cotton yarn; it’s
blended with polyester, to control shrinkage and
wrinkles, and Lycra to add stretch. Today, denim has
many faces. It can be printed, striped, brushed, napped
and stonewashed, and the indigo. The market for
luxury denim with distinct fashion overtures is
estimated at Rs 5,000 upwards has already started.
Any entrepreneur venture into this field will be
successful.
social functions has been practised in India and many
other countries in the world. Incense is composed of
aromatic biotic materials, which release fragrant
smoke when burnt. The term incense refers to the
substance itself, rather than to the odor it produces.
Many religious ceremonies and spiritual purificatory
rites employ incense, a practice that persists to this
day. India has a leadership position in agarbatti
production and fulfils more than half of the world’s
incense sticks requirements. India exports Agarbatti
to nearly 90 countries.

Handicraft (Cane & Bamboo)
A handicraft, sometimes more precisely
expressed as artisanal handicraft or
handmade, is any of a wide variety of types of
work where useful and decorative objects are made
COMPLETELY by hand or by using only simple
tools. It is a traditional main sector of craft, and
applies to a wide range of creative and design
activities that are related to making things with
one’s hands and skill, including work with textiles,
moldable and rigid materials, paper, plant fibers,
etc. Usually the term is APPLIED to traditional
techniques of creating items (whether for personal
use or as products) that are both practical and
aesthetic.
Collective terms for handicrafts include artisanry,
handicrafting, crafting, and handicraftsmanship. The
term arts and crafts is also applied, especially in the
United States and mostly to hobbyists’ and children’s
output rather than items crafted for daily use, but
this distinction is not formal, and the term is easily
confused with the Arts and Crafts design movement,
which is in fact as practical as it is aesthetic.
Many handicrafters use natural, even entirely
indigenous, materials while others may prefer
modern, non-traditional materials, and even upcycle
industrial materials.
The individual artisanship of a handicrafted item
is the paramount criterion; those made by mass
production or machines are not handicraft goods.
Function of the bamboo handicraft industry in the
south Indian states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka,
Andhra Pradesh and Goa.
