Personal Profile
My background is in Marketing, Media & Architecture. I graduated from Oxford Brookes in June 2009
with a high 2:1 in Interior Architecture. I then became a Marketing Manager for a Monmouth start-up
that specialised in overseas property sales, publishing and product penetration – all areas where I’ve
gained significant practical experience over the last year. I created marketing strategies for diverse
products using online marketing tools as well as tradition marketing strategies; this was in addition to
designing websites to promote new brands. This diverse entrepreneurial role also primed my business
acumen, something I aim to use in future opportunities within interior architecture.
I have been fortunate to have been placed in a diverse range of roles that have moulded me into a
hardworking, passionate and confident employee. Through working and heading many teams I have
realised the need for a diplomatic and motivational attitude to ensure a great working relationship
within the team. This includes the opportunity to complete a summer internship at RRA Architects in
Hereford, where I liaised with clients, contractors and architects.
I have a passion for architecture, having won the final year prize ‘Outstanding Contribution to the
Culture of Interior Architecture’ and gaining strong grades during my degree. I founded and led the
Interior Architecture society, attending and representing the course at review meetings and through a
petition to save the course.

4. Design Projects
My most recent projects from employment, internship and University.
I can work conceptually tailoring each design to fit my client.
Oxford Brookes University; Interior Architecture BA (Hons)
Year 3, Semester 2: Concrete : 70%
This semester focused on using concrete. I chose this brief specifically to gain hands-on experience
with building materials. I became fascinated with light amongst concrete. I used fibre optics in a
standard concrete mix, using wax to hold fibre optics of varied sizes in place whilst it set. I then
created a few samples of concretes using wax voids as well as fibre optics (below left). Inspired
by the outcome and choosing a theatrical plot in London’s Borough Market, I transformed a space
into an open theatre space for use of buskers. Another experiment initially on an investigation into
making people pause. The fibre optic concrete protrudes out of the ghost facade creating spolights
and ambience. The facade is to be littered with performing artists with an amphitheatre space hidden
behind for performance and gigs.
At some point I would love to carry on this experiment with concrete.
Year 3, Semester 1: Nursery: 74%
We worked closely with a local nursery; undertaking an environmental and structural survey;
understanding the space, the kids and the environment. We were given the assignment to build a
device that bought a special something to the space.
My device was a kit. A kit that had three stages. Firstly, the children would have four different coloured
stickers. They were to go around the nursery placing the corresponding colour on their favourite
smells, sights, things to touch and noises. The second thing was joining the dots. A path is joined
for the children and helpers to explore everybodies sights, smells, noises etc. Thirdly, in a Bernard
Tschumi, Parc De Villette, style I joined the lines on a plan and de-constructed the walls wherever
the path crossed an existing wall. I created a sketchup model to help me visualise the space. For my
portfolio I designed a book telling the story of my design, you follow the line through plans, drawings
and photographs.
The final week of this semester we worke in groups of four, putting our four designs within the
building. I was chosen to project manage to group. We presented the design to a board of local council
employee’s; the design was commended.
5. RRA Architects: Four Month Summer Placement.
St Mary Le Bowe Crypt Entrance
A project that was given to RRA Architects in an effort to rejuvenate the square that lies infront of the
church. The brief was to weatherproof the staircase and provide some privacy. The crypt was, at the
time, being used as a cafe/restaurant. I combined a glass facade with softly spiralled metal railings to
give privacy and to create some spectacular shadows in the crypt entrance. I produced detailed plans
for this project.
Mill loft conversion
The loft was inhabited with bats so we needed to work out the size of the loft for an outstanding bat
survey on the building. I produced an accurate 3D model to gain volume figures to enable a project to
progress.
Ross Baptist Church
A local church needed to double the size of its congregation. The site itself was overlooked, cramped
and the only way to progress would be use the carpark. I drew up the church plans using Vectorworks,
accurately translating existing inaccurate plans. The church lay on three levels with storage rooms on
split levels. I worked closely with the artistic director of RRA and put together a feasibility study for
the concept so we could understand different ways we could use the site. I came up with six different
designs which were narrowed down to two which I presented the client.
Kitchen Design
I worked on new kitchen plans within a new residential build. I worked closely with the building
regulations during this time and used current module kitchen units in my design.
During my time at RRA I used digimaps, Vectorworks, Sketchup and Adobe Indesign. I also completed
surveys and began a new build project before I returned for my final year of study.
Please contact me for more information on the above projects.
6. KMVF Media;
2009 - 2010 - Web Design.
Whilst working as Marketing manager I made sure I carried on designing so to not loose my passion.
I co-ordinated and built a few websites, creating flyers and food product packaging. Two of the
websites were promotional websites for two novels, which I designed and maintainted solely. The Third
website was a property investment site where I worked alongside a Web Developer who taught me
various transferable skills in CSS, PHP and HTML websites.

Freelance Work:
On the side of the above employment CV. I have designed and marketed a relatives art ‘open-house’
exhibition. The exhibition was a great success with many paintings sold and the artists profile raised
significantly. I designed the clients invitations, Price cards, posters and a ‘tour guide’ to the exhibition.
I have now been commissioned to design their website.
