The starting point is always the same – the clearly defined goal of the client. With our eyes squarely on that destination, we
build a cohesive financial strategy that combines a comprehensive financial plan and thoughtful investment management. As we
move toward the goal (guided by the strategy developed), designated action steps are implemented, tactical modifications are
made, and progress is methodically benchmarked.
Investment Philosophy
We manage clients’ investments by configuring their portfolio and maximizing returns within the context of individual risk
tolerance, tax status, time realities, wealth objectives, and unique circumstances – with an ever-vigil eye on the protection of
capital in all market conditions. We use carefully tailored stakes in traditional asset classes of stocks, bonds and cash, and
non-traditional investments. Our investments are guided by rigorous academic research, our own empirically sound research
and investment experience, and research from leading economists. Investment decisions are executed to limit tax liabilities
as well as managerial and transactional expenses.
Non-Traditional Investments
While “thinking outside the box” is in danger of becoming a cliché, it certainly continues to have merit as an investment
tactic. One alternative path we offer is participation in our non-traditional investment limited partnerships which pool funds
from clients and friends of the firm to invest in hedge, private equity, venture capital, mezzanine and distressed debt, and
managed futures funds. Our unique access to normally hard-to-access, non-traditional funds provides a link for our clients to
these institutional quality and scale investments. These investments lower portfolio risk via diversification, mitigate against
the effects of down markets, and provide opportunity to generate returns which add to wealth.

Consumer Education Foundation, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Small Business
Financing Authority.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business

Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Jack is responsible for investment research and management of
