Swamp weapons guide:
This guide will provide you with some information about each of the current (as of
version 2.5) weapons in swamp. I will give estimated damage and range, as well as information
about settings that the weapon can use. The guide will follow the setup of classes (starting with
medical) as it is stated in the default keymap file.
The field kit:
The field kit is the only way to regain lost health. It can hold four med kits per load, and
has a ten tile area of affect range. The field kit can go through walls. It restores health based on
the level of your medical skill, starting at 20 percent. The field kit can heal other players if they
are within it's range around you. The only way to heal injuries such as the broken leg and twisted
ankle is by having another player use a field kit on you. The field kit costs 80 reputation to
purchase, and a med kits costs 40.
The axe:
The axe is a melee weapon. It has a range of two tiles, and deals out a good amount of damage.
You can kill several different types of zombie in one or two hits. The axe does not require ammo,
and can become stronger by raising the slayer, axe mastery, or blade skills. By pressing t, it can
be set to defensive mode, which gives you a 30% chance to block attacks, but drastically reduces
damage (by about half). The axe has a very low chance to block attacks in standard mode. The
axe is the only weapon that can not break, nor can it be donated.
The glok19 pistol:
The glok19, or g19 as it's sometimes called, is one of the first weapons you start out with.
It's range is 45, and it's damage dealing capability is on the lower end of the scale. The g19 holds
15 rounds of 9 mm ammo. It can also use a small silencer, selected with the t key.
The glok17
Similar to the glok19, the g17 is a slightly better version in that it holds 17 rounds instead
of 15. It must be found on the second floor of the hospital and can not be purchased. This can
also use the small silencer.
The browning:
One of the two shotguns, the browning has a moderate damage capability and a range of
35. It is a rather loud weapon; be careful when using it near a hoard. The browning can hold two
shotgun shells, which makes it a weapon that must be used with a bit of skill, as you don't have
the ability to fire at a lot of zombies. The browning can be set to scatter shot with the t key,
which reduces the damage it does but drastically increases the amount of space that the round
covers (side to side) and allows it to hit many zombies.
The repeating shotgun:
The benilee repeating shotgun is also in the shotgun class. It has a range of 45, and holds eight
shotgun shells. Unlike the browning, this weapon fires quite quickly, so it is ideal for firing
through large numbers of undead. The repeating shotgun can also be set to scatter shot, though
it's rounds cover less space and do less damage than the browning. The repeating shotgun is also
slightly quieter than the browning.
The winchester rifle:
The winchester is a middle-of-the-road weapon. It holds five rounds of .30 caliber
ammunition, and fires a range of 60. The winchester deals about as much damage as the
repeating shotgun, but it can not hit multiple undead. The winchester can use a ucon scope,
which will ad another 30 onto it's range.
The mp5 and uzi sub machine guns:
These weapons are near exact copies, just as the g19 and g17 are. The mp5 holds 30
rounds of 9 mm ammo, and the uzi holds 40. You must find the uzi on the second floor of the
hospital. These weapons have the ability to be switched into triple-shot burst mode. Both of these
weapons can use the small suppressor, which quiets down their shots a bit. The suppressor is not
as powerful as the silencer for the pistols.
The ar15 assault rifle:
The ar15 rifle is arguably the loudest weapon on the game. It holds 30 rounds of 5.56 mm
ammo, and can be switched to burst mode. The ar15 deals about as much damage as the
winchester, and can hit targets up to a range of 60.
The short-bow:
The short-bow is a silent weapon. It uses arrows for it's ammunition, and deals slightly
more damage than the pistol. You must find the short-bow on the second floor of the hospital.
The longbow:
The long-bow is a vastly more powerful version of the short-bow. It starts with two
options: light and heavy pull, which affect range and damage. Light pull is nearly exactly the
same as the short-bow, with a range of 60, though it deals slightly more damage. The heavy pull
option increases the weapon's range to 70, and can kill a tyrant in one to three shots. If you
acquire a leather bracer from the hospital, the longbow can be operated in maximum pull mode.
This takes much longer to load the weapon, but it has been known to drop tyrants in one shot
easily. The longbow can only be found on the second floor of the hospital. Heavy pull takes
about twice as long to load as light pull, and maximum pull takes about 2.5 times longer than
heavy (these numbers are a guess, treat them as such).
The m40 sniper rifle:
The m40 sniper is a long-range weapon. It comes with a cope and can hold a single round
of 7.62 mm ammo. The sniper can fire up to a range of 90, and usually kills all zombies in one
hit. Note that in order to fire the weapon, you must press t to crouch and activate your scope. You
can improve the m40 with the use of the gilly suit and bolt action skills.
The m60:
The m60 is one of the two major machine guns. It can hold 100 rounds of 7.62 mm ammo, and
fires bursts of five rounds each. The weapon can fire at a range of 60 or 70. You can fire the
weapon unbraced, but it is recommended that you press t to remove the drastic accuracy penalty.
Note that the m60, while braced, limits movement severely.
The vulcan minigun:
One of the most destructive weapons on the game, the minigun is often used to clear out
swarms of undead. It holds a belt of 1000 rounds of 7.62 mm ammo, and fires bursts of ten
rounds at a time. When equip and not braced, your movement speed is very limited, but once you
brace the weapon you can not move at all. You can improve the minigun through the use of the
belt and legs of steel skills
