Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was, and Peter acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ. Jesus affirmed this and said he would build his church upon this foundation of truth, giving authority over the church to his apostles.
1) The message of Christ crucified seems absurd and foolish to those who are doomed, but it makes perfect sense to those who are being saved.
2) While some Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, Christians proclaim Christ crucified. Though some Jews see it as unremarkable and Greeks see it as nonsense, Christ is God's ultimate power and wisdom for believers.
3) God chose ordinary, overlooked people to shame the wise and powerful, so that believers' faith comes from God's power rather than human wisdom or ability.

This document discusses Mormonism and argues that it is deceptive. It makes the following key points:
1) Mormonism appears Christian but has totally different meanings for Christian terminology and hides its true beliefs from followers.
2) Mormon beliefs are based on mystical visions and revelations rather than historical evidence, and its core scriptures like the Book of Abraham have been proven fraudulent.
3) The Mormon gospel focuses on laws and ordinances of the Mormon church rather than the biblical gospel of Christ's death and resurrection for our sins.
4) The document calls followers of Mormonism to base their beliefs on the verifiable truth and historical evidence of the Bible rather than emotions or mysticism.
This document discusses adultery according to the Bible. It defines three types of adultery: sexual adultery involving unlawful intercourse, adultery without intercourse through lustful thoughts and actions, and spiritual adultery involving idolatry and apostasy. Jesus expanded the definition of adultery to include lustful thoughts. The document also discusses how pornography promotes adultery without intercourse and harms human dignity. It notes the prevalence of child trafficking and prostitution resulting from the porn industry.
1. Paul wrote 1 Corinthians to address disputes within the church in Corinth around 54 CE. He discusses divisions among those who claimed to belong to different leaders like Paul, Apollos, or Cephas.
2. In chapter 4, Paul says the Corinthians have been passing judgment on their leaders, including himself. He reminds them that as servants and stewards of God, they should not be judged by humans but by God alone.
3. Paul lists different sins and vices, distinguishing between those inside and outside the church. He warns the Corinthians not to associate or eat with other believers who engage in sexual immorality, greed, idolatry, insults, drunkenness, or theft.
Jesus is questioned by Pharisees and Herodians about whether Jews should pay taxes to Caesar. They try to trap him in his response. Jesus asks to see the coin used for taxes, which bears Caesar's image. He says "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." This avoids directly answering the question and upholds both obedience to earthly authority and devotion to God.

The document discusses issues within the Corinthian church where a man was in an immoral relationship with his father's wife. The author calls out the church for their lack of concern over this sin and calls for the man to be removed from the church and delivered to Satan as punishment. The author warns against pride and calls the church to display sincerity, truth, humility and accountability to each other in order to purge out sin and leaven. Unrepentant sin within the church should be dealt with severely but grace and redemption should be shown once sin is repented of.
December 2 2018 - Sunday service - The Surpassing Greatness of Knowing Jesus ...Catherine Lirio
The document discusses the surpassing greatness of knowing Jesus Christ based on Philippians 3:8. It provides the Greek, Hebrew, and King James translations of the verse. The verse emphasizes that knowing Christ as Lord is of greater value than anything else. The document then provides three reasons why knowing Jesus Christ is the greatest knowledge: 1) He is our Lord and master who we obey and are slaves to righteousness through. 2) He is our God, as shown in various Bible verses. 3) He is our righteousness, and we find righteousness through faith in Him rather than works of the law.

Paul urges the Philippians to have humility and unity through the example of Christ. He recounts how Christ, though divine, humbled himself by becoming human and dying on the cross. Paul then gives examples of others exemplifying humility: Timothy serves others above himself; Epaphroditus risked his life to serve the Philippians and Paul. Paul wishes to send Timothy and Epaphroditus back to the Philippians to further encourage humility and unity.
The document discusses the theme of love from several passages in the Bible. It emphasizes that God is love, and that those who abide in God must love one another. For believers to truly know and experience God's love, they must reciprocate that love by loving their fellow brothers and sisters, even those they have not seen. Loving one another is a core commandment for those who claim to love God.
This document provides background information on the early congregation established by Jesus Christ. It discusses the cultural and political context in Israel during the first century AD, when Rome controlled the region. The author aims to outline the true history and beliefs of the original congregation started by Jesus, which they believe has survived through persecution until today, contrasting it with the Roman Catholic Church established by Constantine. The document gives an overview of the chapters to come, which will examine the establishment of the early congregation by Jesus and its progression through history, following it as a persecuted group that maintained its distinct beliefs and practices.
Paul writes to the Philippians encouraging them to rejoice in their faith and warning against overconfidence in their heritage or status. He explains that he once took pride in his Jewish heritage and status as a Pharisee, but now considers all of that as rubbish compared to knowing Christ. He urges the Philippians to pursue knowing Christ by imitating his example of suffering, forgetting the past, and striving toward the goal of life in heaven, where their bodies will be transformed to be like Christ's glorious body.
This document contains excerpts from the Bible discussing the importance of prayer and support for missionaries. This document discusses the local church as a "greenhouse" for spiritual growth. It provides several Bible passages about unity within the church and esteeming others, as well as working together for mutual edification. The local church should focus on nurturing, discipling and developing people. Building the kingdom is about building people through having them in one's heart. The church should celebrate others' spiritual progress and equip believers to minister supernaturally through healings, deliverances and miracles as the greatest form of evangelism.

1) God shed his love abroad in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
2) When we were without strength, Christ died for us at the right time while we were still sinners and ungodly.
3) Christ's death was a substitutionary sacrifice to deal with man's sin according to God's eternal plan.

He advises thinking on virtues and finding contentment through giving thanks to God, who provides for all needs.

Psalm 8 praises God's majesty as seen in creation. It acknowledges humanity's smallness compared to the vastness of the universe. Yet God has made humanity with a status just below God and given them responsibility over the earth. The psalm concludes by extolling the majesty of God's name throughout the earth.
Stephen was a follower of Jesus who was falsely accused and brought to trial, paralleling the suffering of Jesus. As Stephen faced death, his face shone with the glory of God, resembling an angel, because of his close relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, worship, and obedience. This reflected that God would also vindicate Stephen and other followers of Jesus, just as he did through the resurrection of Jesus.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
