Preparing OP-190 (Product Data Sheet), calling CHEMTREC, coordinating with
the spill center, making sure all of the equipment is suitable for the hazmat spill,
using Niosh guide, Emergency Response Guide book and 3M Respirator Guide.
Organizing the hazmat team, explaining to them what type of release we have, how
we need to clean up the spill, what equipment to use. Following all the rules and
regulations of OSHA and our SOP’s. (Standard Operating Procedures)

Setting up the hot, warm and cold zones using litmus paper and the air monitors, too
make sure that we are at a safe distance to clean up the spilled material.
Setting up the decon zone, gathering any equipment that will be used to secure the
spill, for example, drums to put the material in, absorbent material to soak up the
spill, non sparking brooms and shovels and amphomag to neutralize the product.

Prepare once a month meetings, topics include areas of the dock that need repaired.
Talk to operations manager and dock personnel to keep work areas clean of debris.
