INTRODUCTION
 Java is a class-based object-oriented simple
programming language.
 Java is a general-purpose, highlevel programming
language.
 It is used to develop applications for a wide range of
devices.
 It has a comprehensive library of classes for user
interface design, networking capabilities, data structures,
and algorithms.
FEATURES OF JAVA
 Simple
 Object oriented
 Portable
 Secured
 Platform independent
 Interpreted
 Multithread
 Dynamic
APPLICATION OF JAVA
 Web Applications
 Mobile Applications
 Enterprise Application
 Desktop Application
 Embedded System
WHY JAVA?
 It’s the current “hot” language
 It’s almost entirely object-oriented
 It has a vast library of predefined objects and
operations
 It’s more platform independent
this makes it great for Web programming
 It’s more secure
 It isn’t C++
HISTORY OF JAVA
 Java was developed in the early 1990s by James Gosling as
an object-oriented programming language.
 James Gosling and his team first developed Java at Sun
Microsystems in the early 1990s. The language was designed
with the goal of creating a platform-independent programming
language that could be used for developing interactive television
and other consumer electronic devices.
 Java's first public release was in 1995, and it quickly gained
popularity as a language for developing web-based applications.
Today, Java is widely used for developing various applications,
including web, mobile, desktop, and enterprise software.
