We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

January intake UK.pdf
1. Why We Should Prefer January Intake in UK
for Higher Study?
You must know that January is the main intake for most universities in the country. But why
should you prefer this intake over others? Apart from being a popular option, there are
several other reasons that make January intake an ideal choice for students. From cheaper
living expenses to a wider range of courses available, let’s dive into the details and explore
why January intake is worth considering for your higher studies in the UK!
January intake is the main intake for UK universities
January intake is undoubtedly the most popular and primary intake for UK universities. Most
universities in the country offer their main courses during this time, which makes it easier for
students to enroll in their preferred course. Moreover, January intake UK provides an
opportunity for those who missed the September/October intakes or want to switch courses.
This option of enrolling in January also helps international students who couldn’t secure a
place earlier due to late visa applications or other reasons. However, do note that some
courses may not be available in January as they only have one start date per year.
Opting for a January intake gives you another chance to pursue your desired program at
your chosen university. It is essential to keep track of application deadlines and plan ahead
accordingly if you wish to apply for this intake.
The weather in January is colder than other months, but it’s
still manageable
The weather in January is one of the main concerns for international students who are
planning to study in the UK during this month. It’s true that January is usually colder than
other months, but it’s not unbearable. With proper preparation and planning, you can easily
manage the chilly weather.
One thing to keep in mind is that the UK climate varies depending on where you are
studying. Northern areas like Scotland tend to be colder compared to southern regions like
London and Bristol. However, all universities have heating systems installed which provide
warmth indoors.
To prepare for cold weather, make sure to pack warm clothing such as a good quality coat
or jacket, gloves, scarves and hats. Layering your clothes will help you adjust your body
2. temperature according to indoor and outdoor environments.
Moreover, if you’re feeling too cold outdoors, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants
where you can take refuge while warming up with some hot chocolate or coffee.
While the weather may seem daunting at first glance – especially if you come from a
warmer climate – it’s still manageable with some preparation and adjustment. Don’t let this
factor stop you from pursuing higher education in the UK during January intake!
Living expenses are cheaper in January
Studying abroad can be expensive, especially when you consider the cost of living.
However, choosing to start your studies in January could save you a significant amount of
money on living expenses.
According to overseas education consultants, One of the main reasons for this is that the
demand for accommodation and other living expenses tends to peak around September
when most students begin their studies. By starting in January, you are less likely to face
stiff competition for housing since there will be fewer students looking for places to stay at
that time.
In addition, many landlords may offer discounts or lower rent prices during the off-season
months like January as they struggle to find tenants. This means that you can enjoy a more
affordable cost of living without compromising on quality or comfort.
Furthermore, shopping and dining out options tend to be cheaper in January than during
peak tourist seasons like summer. You’ll find yourself saving money on groceries and daily
necessities if you take advantage of sales and offers available during this time.
If affordability is one of your top priorities while studying abroad in the UK then considering
starting your course in January might just be what you need!
There are more available courses in January
One of the main advantages of choosing to enroll in a January intake program in the UK is
the wider range of courses available. Many universities offer more options for students who
want to begin their studies during this time, with some even opening up new programs or
specializations specifically for January intake.
This means that you have more opportunities to find a course that matches your interests
and career goals. Whether you’re looking for an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate
3. qualification, you’ll likely find many excellent choices that are only open to those starting in
January.
Moreover, taking advantage of the January intake can give you access to courses with
limited availability. Certain programs may have very competitive entry requirements or strict
application deadlines, but these requirements may be slightly relaxed when it comes to the
less-crowded start dates like January.
Additionally, applying for courses with fewer applicants means there’s also less competition
between prospective students. You might stand out as one among relatively few candidates
at this time compared to thousands competing against each other during peak admission
season in September.
If you’re considering studying abroad in the UK but missed September entry due dates then
opting for the January intake could increase your chances of finding an ideal course and
broaden your academic horizons too!
Conclusion
To sum up, January intake in UK is a great option for students who want to pursue their
higher education abroad. The availability of more courses and cheaper living expenses
make it an attractive choice. Although the weather might be colder, it’s not unbearable, and
you can always enjoy indoor activities like visiting museums or exploring different cuisines.
Moreover, starting your studies in January gives you enough time to prepare for your course
as well as adjust to the new environment before the academic year starts. You also get
more opportunities to connect with other international students who have just arrived in the
country.
If you’re considering studying in the UK, don’t overlook January intake; it could be the
perfect opportunity for you!
