Jane Doe Massachusetts State Police Case# 95108-0900-0265 Case Synopsis On October 6, 1995, the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office commenced an investigation into the homicide of an unidentified female in the Town of Tolland, Massachusetts.  The victim had been shot and her body was left in an area outside the entrance of the Tolland State Forest.  The age of the victim was determined to be between 30-45 years old.  She was about 5’2” to 5’5” tall and weighed approximately 120-130 lbs.  The victim wore prescription eyeglasses which were Metaline #7 style and the frames were maroon or red colored.  The victim also had partial upper and lower dentures.  At the time of the murder the victim was found to be wearing size 7 ½ Passport shoes, size 8 P Bill Blass jeans and a Trends brand pullover type sweatshirt with a distinctive pattern.  The victim was also wearing four rings, a gold colored Sergio Valente wristwatch and drop pendant earrings.

As a result of the investigation it is believed that the sweatshirt worn by the victim was purchased at one of three stores located in the New York Capital District area.  These stores ate located in Schenectady, The Northway Mall in Colonie and the Wilton Mall in Saratoga Springs.  The sweatshirt would have probably been purchased in 1994.  Additionally, a cigarette pack found at the scene near the victim.  A tax stamp was located on the cigarette pack.  Investigators have determined through the New York State Office of Tax Enforcement that this stamp was issued to a company located in Latham, New York.  This company distributed cigarettes throughout the Capital District Area.

An additional forensic test utilizing oxygen isotopes was utilized to assist with determining locations where the victim may have resided.  The results of this test included the Upstate New York area as a possible location where the victim could have resided.
Tolland, Massachusetts Homicide linked to New Britain, Connecticut Homicide On September 28, 1995 the City of New Britain, Connecticut Police Department commenced and investigation into the homicide of an unidentified female.  This victim was also shot.  Investigators from New Britain and the Massachusetts State Police currently believe the cases are linked.  Mitochondrial and nuclear DNA tests have determined that the victims may in fact be biologically related.
