The combination of the main music video production and ancillary texts (digipak and magazine poster) was effective in promoting recognition and synergy across mediums. Key elements like recurring imagery, camerawork, lighting, color scheme, and character representation were adapted from Eminem's "Curtain Call" album to construct visual and thematic relations between the products. While maintaining similar design formalities, the ancillary texts differentiated in information layout to distinguish the mediums but attract larger audiences through repetition and difference. This promoted the dominant reading of the artist's troublesome character through selective high visibility of conventions relating to drugs and social identity.
The document discusses the student's media product which is a music magazine. It covers how the product challenges conventions by using new software, how it represents social groups through imagery and language, and who the target audience would be.
The student learned about using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for magazine design. While challenging to use at first, the student gained skills in layout, image editing, and exporting files for the final product. The process showed growth from the preliminary task to a more polished final product.
The document discusses the creation of a music magazine media product. It examines how the product used, developed, and challenged conventions of real music magazines. Conventions like images on the front cover and column layouts on inside pages were used, while the contents page presented a less conventional layout. Feedback was positive about the language, color scheme, double page spread, content, and modern/effective presentation. Research into existing magazines and the target audience informed design choices.

The document describes several creative projects and assignments completed by Snar Hunfeld, including concept development for branding campaigns, art installations, and events. Key details include developing a concept for Absolut Vodka introducing a new fictional flavor, creating guerrilla marketing sticker designs for Belvedere Vodka, and organizing the Studio60 art exhibition event in abandoned spaces in Amsterdam.
The document summarizes John Wilding's preliminary and final print tasks for a school assignment. For the preliminary task, John learned how to use an SLR camera and the Photoshop software. He considered camera angles and his target demographic. For the final task, John researched music magazines to design one for an indie music genre targeting teenagers. He organized a photoshoot and used Photoshop to edit the photos and design the magazine layout. Overall, John gained experience with photography, design software, targeting audiences, and the magazine production process.
The document discusses how the author created their own magazine by both using conventions from existing magazines and developing their own conventions. They took elements like the color scheme and barcode from an original magazine called "Mixmag" but developed their own title called "Exposure" with a pink glow. The author's magazine represents younger social groups who enjoy clubbing and festivals. It is aimed at males and females aged 17-25 who are interested in dance music. The author included offers and festival guides to attract their target audience.
Ryan Andrews created a music magazine aimed at representing men ages 16-30 to appeal to younger audiences and modernize the image of jazz music. He used Photoshop and MonkeyPic to create an animated image for the double page spread. Ryan believes Jazzwise Publications would be interested in distributing the magazine due to their focus on jazz education and expanding their audience. The target demographic is males 16-30 represented in a positive light without stereotypes. Fonts, images, and lessons from Vibe magazine were used to attract this audience. Ryan has learned skills in Photoshop, digital photography, and magazine design from constructing this project.
Chloe Jackson evaluated her A2 media coursework which included a newspaper, poster, and radio advertisement. She effectively used consistent colors, fonts, text, pictures, and register across the three products to create a recognizable brand and style. Repetition of these elements displayed her young, contemporary ideology and linked the products together as a cohesive campaign. Feedback indicated the audience liked the individual style of each product and felt they worked well together.
My Magazine uses a similar layout format to popular music magazines like Kerrang by positioning pictures and text similarly throughout pages. It also follows conventions like using a large front cover picture to promote an artist. The magazine represents its target audience of 16-21 year old students and up-and-coming young musicians by using appropriate language and featuring exclusives of recently successful artists. The magazine would likely be distributed online by a new website willing to take risks on new brands, as major retailers only carry well-established magazines.
Danielle Sanger is a graphic designer with experience in the Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, photography, and social media marketing. She has a BTEC in Media and is currently pursuing a BA in Graphic Design. Her portfolio highlights rebrand projects for WWF and a heated butter knife, as well as a zine addressing gender stereotypes. She aims to develop her professional skills with a positive attitude through teamwork and independent work.
My media product uses the conventional layout of established music magazines, following forms and conventions such as the masthead, tagline, and cover lines on the front cover. The contents and double page spreads also follow conventions. The product represents late teenage girls through the front cover image of a girl band and articles appealing to girls. It would be distributed by a mainstream publisher known for uniqueness, such as Bauer or Natmags, through regular newsagents to attract anyone interested in retro music or festivals, predominantly females aged 16-24 with interests in music, art and organic products.
The document summarizes a student's media evaluation of a magazine they created called "Chart Music Magazine". The student chose to target 12-20 year olds interested in chart music. They conducted research on existing magazines and used conventions from magazines like Q and RWD. The student created covers, spreads, and content using techniques and colors they learned would attract their target audience. They feel the preliminary task helped them learn skills for the full product and receive feedback to improve.

Visual Style and Aesthetics: Basics of Visual Design
Visual Design for Enterprise Applications
Range of Visual Styles.
Mobile Interfaces:
Challenges and Opportunities of Mobile Design
Approach to Mobile Design
Patterns
1. Portfolio
I am a graphic designer with over five
years of experience in developing and
designing advertisements, brochures,
event collateral, magazine spreads,
and merchandise...
2. Logo
I took a two week trip to Galmi Hospital, located in
Niger Republic, West Africa, as part of a marketing
team to gather information. Upon returning to the
U.S., I developed this logo which illustrates Galmi’s
care for the whole Nigerien family, from outpatients
to obstetrics.
3. Brochure
I developed this brochure for
Sojourners, which clearly illustrates
all of the many initiatives they have.
To keep costs down I restricted the
design to two printing colors.
4. Booth
I translated the visuals—including the icons I’d designed—from
the Sojourners’ brochure into a large tabletop booth display.
5. Sticker
I was given the language by Sojourners and
asked to create a bumper sticker that would
clearly communicate the message, while also
being easy to read from a distance.
6. Web Advertisements
For the launch of Jim Wallis’ new book I
was tasked with creating advertisements to
promote it. Along with larger online static
ads, I made smaller, animated ads that
cycled through to show an endorsement
from one of several different notable figures.
7. T-Shirt
I was provided a quotation from a book, and asked to design a shirt for
distribution at a Sojourners’ conference. The shirt had to follow Sojourners’
brand colors and communicate the quotation in a graphic way. I then took
photographs and designed the advertisement to promote the shirt on
Sojourners’ website and magazine.
8. Map
I was asked
to design
a map to
my friends
art exhibit,
which
could be
understood
without
written
directions.
I limited
my color
palette and
focused on
highlighting
nearby
parking lots
and the
sidewalks
that connect
them to the

9. Poster
For Joni Eareckson Tada’s induction into the Society of World Changers at Indiana Wesleyan University,
I conceived of a two part campaign. The first poster featured a broken object which was then arranged
into a cruciform in the subsequent poster.
10. Poster
The posters illustrated my concept that Mrs. Tada would have never dedicated herself to the service of
disabled people throughout the world if it had not been for a diving accident, which left her paralyzed.
I art directed our photographer and then assembled the images.
11. Magazine
I developed several spreads for an admissions magazine for
prospective students. The style had to be consistent with the existing
undergraduate marketing material of Indiana Wesleyan University.
12. Advertisement
Indiana Wesleyan University had recently hired some
new faculty for their honors college. I designed this
announcement for placement in an academic journal.
13. Event Collateral
For the Gaither’s induction ceremony into the
Society of World Changers at Indiana Wesleyan
University, I created posters and table top
displays to announce the event. I illustrated the
myriad of songs and artists they have influenced
by reproducing their song titles and artists names
behind the primary text.
14. Program Guide
I created the program guide to the Gaither’s
induction ceremony at Indiana Wesleyan
University in an elegant, simple style
recognizing the ceremony’s connection to
the university’s presidential office.
