Editor's Notes
- Purpose-pretreatment, ADEQ Comprehensive Septic Tank Inspection is from the Tank out.
- The very first point of Inspection is to take the effluent level, if at all possible at the outlet.
- When you see this-
- ADEQ septic tank inspection is from tank out, but better vet your inlet source-does it come into the tank. Inlet cannot be submerged-water coming back at you with a flow test, outlet delivery may be up hill-push your hose further ito the delivery line- Long before you see the water coming back, you will have had signs of trouble by observation of tank.
- Just performing a flow test give no proof that your delivery lines lines are connected.
- Observe multiple issues ?
- Lots to see here.
- Baffle barely holding.
- New leaching field, but no new baffle.
- This precast manufacturer has since replaced concrete baffles with plastic.
- Not more than ½ inch of sidewall left at the outlet.
- Concrete not yet slufffing off.
- 4 fields, 4 bedroom home, shallow fields.
- Not doing much good here, delivery to the D-box is damaged.
- Eventually result of deterioration will block the flow. Again delivery to D-box on the left side shows line is uphill, indicating there is a dipped, crimped or severed delivery line leading to the D-Box .
- In 16 years I have not measured any fields on a system with the same effluent level. The soil determines the absorption rate. Fields can be 6 ft apart and the SAR will be drastically different.
- Seepage Pits are still being permitted in Arizona, however they can only be permitted in “certain circumstances”.
- Here locally, there are usually two in tandem, this one was never connected to the failed pit.
- We see these concrete baffles in the 50’s and 60’s, no air space between top of the baffle and tank lid.
- Pipe comes out of the septic tank and runs down hill or into a ravine, or wash.
