Editor's Notes

  1. Titian painted well over 100 paintings.
  2. The medieval art was mostly religious, and showed holy images like god, angels, Jesus, or heaven. One of the famous paintings in the medieval were the Madonna and child in majesty Some of the famous artists of the medieval were Donatello,GiottoDuring the renaissance the types of paintings were changing mostly compared to the medieval period there were less paintings of religious things and more paintings of landscapes, people, places, and things like fruit for example. There are many famous paintings from the renaissance including the monalissa, starry nights. The famous artists of the renaissance is what you will learn in this PowerPoint“click”
  3. Born In1435 in Florence.Andrea del Verrocchio commonly known as Verrocchio was born in Florence, Italy. And his father Michele di Francesco Cioni, worked as a tile and brick maker and, later, as a tax collector Verrocchio was never married but he had to work to help out his family. to start his first career he was a gold smith and the said that he was apprenticed under Donatello, but they are still unsure. Little is known about his life.Verrocchio had his own studio and Several great artists passed through his workshop as apprentices. As well as Leonardo da Vinci and Lorenzo di Credi these included Domenico Ghirlandaio, Francesco Botticini, and Pietro Perugino. At the end of his life he opened a new workshop in Venice where he was working on the Equestrian Statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni, leaving the Florentine workshop in charge of Lorenzo di CrediDied in 1488 in Venice.Quick fact:Leonardo Da Vinci was part of verrocchios studio and might have helped on some of his paintings.
  4. On the bottom left is the statue made by Verrocchio is of Bartolomeo Colleoni made from bronze is the one that Verrocchio made Verrocchio worked on the statue from 1479 to his own death in 1488. The work was not cast in bronze until 1492, four years after Verrocchio's death and seventeen years after the death of Colleoni. In the middle of the screen is the Madonna and child, and was made in 1470- 1475. and depicts Madonna putting a “diaper” on the child. In bottom right is the baptism of Christ In which part of the painting was done by Leonardo da Vinci. And it depicts Christ being baptized.
  5. Tiziano Vecelli or Tiziano Vecellio (c. 1487/1490 –)His life: At the age of about ten to twelve he and his brother Francesco were sent to an uncle in Venice to find an apprenticeship with a painter. The minor painter Sebastian Zuccato, whose sons became well-known mosaicists, and who may have been a family friend, set for the brothers to enter the studio of the older Gentile Bellini, wherethey later wentto his brother Giovanni Bellini. At that time the Bellini's, especially Giovanni, were the leading artists in the city. After a while Titian joined Giorgione as an assistant. During the last twenty-six years of his life (1550–1576) the artist worked mainly for Philip II and as a portrait-painter.Several other artists of the Vercelli family followed in the wake of Titian. Francesco Vercelli, his elder brother, was introduced to painting by Titian (it is said at the age of twelve, but chronology will hardly admit of this), and painted in the church of S. Vito.Few of the pupils and assistants of Titian became well known in their own right; for some being his assistant was probably a lifetime career. Quick facts:He was most famous for his paintings Bacchus and Ariadne. He is the most famous painter from Venice. He is noted for his use of color Titian painted well over 100 paintings. Quotes Painting done under pressure by artists without the necessary talent can only give rise to formlessness, as painting is a profession that requires peace of mind. (Titian) Died 27 August 1576
  6. Here we have a few paintings done by Titian. One is the Emperor Charles the 5 in the battle of Mulhberg riding horseback, and Abraham and Isaac An angel stops Abraham from killing his son Isaac.( Bottom right. ) at the man with the red cap or bottom left Is a portrait of apparently what looks like a noble or prince wearing a red cap.
  7. Real name: Giorgio Barbarelli da CastelfrancoBorn 1477-1478 Castelfranco Veneto, ItalyThe little known of Giorgione's life,How early in boyhood he went to Venice we do not know but he severed his apprenticeship there under Giovanni Bellini there he settled and made his fameGiorgione was very close to titian, and they worked together on a lot of art pieces. He was sent to Venice to be trained. In 1500, when he was only twenty-three, he was chosen to paint portraits of the Doge Agostino Barbarigo and the condottiere Consalvo FerranteIn 1504 he was commissioned to paint an altarpiece in memory of another condottiere, Matteo Costanzo, in the cathedral of his native town, Castelfranco.his met with Leonardo da Vinci on the occasion of the Tuscan master's visit to Venice in 1500,Very little of this work survives today.Though he died at 33, Giorgione left a lasting legacy to be developed by Titian and 17th-century artistsHe died probably of the plague then raging.Fun fact: The variant Giorgione (or Zorzon) may be translated "Big George“His landscape paintings are sometimes rough, craggy, wild and unfriendly, as seen in his most famous painting.
  8. Left::::::Madonna enthroned with the Child with St. Francis and, on the left, St. NicasiusBottom right:::::::::The Three Philosophers was finished around 1509, one year before the painter died. One of Giorgione’s last paintings, it is now displayed at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. It shows three philosophers — one young, one middle-aged, and one old.Top right :::::::::The Adoration of the Shepherds was made in 1500 and depicts Jesus and Madonna with shepherds checking the baby Jesus,
  9. Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti SimoniBorn: March 6, 1475 Caprese, Italy Died: February 18, 1564 Rome, Italy commonly known as Michelangelo was an Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineerMichelangelo was called a renaissance man.dad owned small banking business- in Florence Michelangelo was raised he was six when his mom died.Michelangelo's father sent him to study grammar with the Humanist Francesco da Urbino in Florence as a young boy.At thirteen, Michelangelo was apprenticed to the painter Domenico Ghirlandaio. When Michelangelo was only fourteen, his father persuaded Ghirlandaio to pay his apprentice as an artist, which was highly unusual at the time. From 1490 to 1492, Michelangelo attended the Humanist academy which the Medici had founded along Neo Platonic lines.Lorenzo de' Medici's death on 8 April 1492 brought a reversal of Michelangelo's circumstances. Michelangelo left the security of the Medici court and returned to his father's house. Michelangelo left the city before the end of the political upheaval, moving to Venice and then to Bologna. In Bologna, he was commissioned to finish the carving of the last small figures of the Shrine of St. Dominic, in the church dedicated to that saint. After a while Michelangelo returned to Florence but received no commissions from the new city government under Savonarola. He returned to the employment of the Medici.Michelangelo created many art pieces from the Light matter Sistine Chapel ceiling, the work took approximately four years to complete (1508–1512)ToMichelangelo's The Last Judgment.Architecture: 7 Painting: 8 Sculpture: 36 Recently attributed: 1 Disputed: 1 So total is 53

  11. Titian was born in Italy in the town of Pieve di Cadore near Belluno in Veneto.Giorgione was born in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy.Michelangelo was born inCaprese, Italy and later on moved to Florence.Verrocchio was born in florence italy and stayed for a while and died in venice italy.
  12. Today the art of the renaissance was more popular than I was in the renaissance. The works of art back then and the world of art now arent at all the same now its mostly world and barely any religious art. Back then works of art like the sistine chapel or other was notice greatly and it still is even more so. But now the other pieces of art are maybe noticed by part of the community but most people don’t really pay attention to them. the supplies that they use now are very different to what they used back then. Like paint is made in bulk and sold and in many, many colors and types back then they normally needed to make everything or buy it for a lot of money. Back then they also didn’t have a huge variety of paint like oil, solid or other now they got textured, solid, gloss, etc. back then most things were don’t by hand now they are mechanized. The new age art is more what the person likes to anime or animated looking art to tracing of something or environment etc.
  13. Michelagelo and leonardoM and Leonardo were in the same period Leo and M were threatened by each other M was troubled and Leo was more out going
  14. The artists paints are made by the artist most of the time by grounding the elements themselves, mixing the powders with linseed or olive oil, to create the right consistency. Some also used tempera. Which is mixing the pigment with egg whites. Paint brushes were usually made with twigs or stick and they put a type of hair on yarn or something.
  15. Answer:LAST JUDGEMENT, SISTENE CHAPEL,Pala di Castelfranco, Madonna, THE THREE PHILOSOPHERS, The Adoration of the Shepherds, Abraham and Isaac, the man with the red cap, Emperor Charles the 5 at the battle of Mulhberg, BartolomeoColleoni, Die Taufe Christium
  16. For connection to theme talking about Italy in the renaissance. The period in which all of the artists lived were during the renaissance, also the period was mostly about art. Like for all of the different artist.
