IT Offboarding steps
Sad to see them go - lets make sure we do it right
Hardware
On the employee’s last day their Line Manager organise that representative from
IT Support Team must meet them at the office to take back all their hardware (as
defined on the IT Asset Register).
1. If there are missing items - the employee can go home to fetch it or pay for the full
value of the item at that point
2. Check the condition of all the hardware, privately - in IT Lab
1. Update Asset Register immediately
IT Admin steps
1. Revoke system access from IdP and SSO
2. Close employee SaaS accounts
3. Terminate VPN and review any remote access methods
4. Change/ revoke shared accounts’ passwords
5. Change system’s ownership
6. Remove them from platforms like Jira, Slack, etc
7. Forward employee’s email address to their Line Manager (or whomever their Line
Manager elects)
8. Recover company equipment and assets
9. Reclaim employee licenses (Like Google, Microsoft, etc)
10. Schedule account deletion for suspended accounts, if needed
