2.  오늘 알려드리는 내용은 여러 문서들과, 학생 학부
모 핸드북에서 발췌한 것 들입니다. Information we
provide today is only extracts from different documents for
different areas of the school and the full documents are in
student parent handbook.

3.  본교는 비영리 사립 남녀 보통학교입니다. The
International School of Ulaanbaatar (ISU) is a private, non-
profit, secular, co-educational school.
 본교는 1992년에 설립되었습니다.
 The International School of Ulaanbaatar started in 1992.
 2007년에 현재 건물로 이사하였습니다.
We moved into this current building in 2007.

4.  Association
본교에 다니는 학생의 학부모와 가디언은 ISU의
연합체를 구성합니다.Parents or legal guardians of
children who are registered for attendance at the school
compose the Association of the International School of
Ulaanbaatar
 AGM (Annual General Meeting)
이 미팅의 목적은 위원회 선출을 위한 것입니
다.The purpose of this meeting is to elect the Board.

5.  위원회는 5~11명으로 구성되며 그 중 한명은 미
대사관에서 지명됩니다.
 The Board will be comprised of not less than 5 nor more
than 11 voting members. One of them is the voting
member appointed by the US Embassy.
 신탁이사회는 ISU 디렉터를 선출하며 예산, 학교
방향과 수업료를 결정합니다.
 The Board of Trustees recruits and appoints the Director
of the International School of Ulaanbaatar. The Board of
Trustees approves the budget, the direction of the
school and the tuition fees.

6. ISU가 비영리 국제학교이며, 학생들이 여러나라를 대
표하고 있어서 미국정부는 몽골정부에 본교의 합법
적 지위를 요구하였습니다. 쌍방의 합의에 따라
2004년 5월 26일 서명을 하였고 2005년 10월 27
일 Ikh Khural 결의에 의해 비준되었습니다.
Since ISU is a non-profit international school and its’ student
body represent many different countries, the US Government
requested the Mongolian Government to determine its legal
status. The bilateral agreement was signed in May 26, 2004 and
it was ratified by the State Ikh Khural Resolution in October 27,
2005.

7. • ISU는 EARCOS, CIS, ACAMIS의 회원입니다.
• ISU is the Member of the East Asia Regional Council of
Overseas Schools (EARCOS), Council of International Schools
(CIS) and the Association of China and Mongolia International
Schools (ACAMIS).
• ISU는 2개의 국제단체에 의해 인정받고 있습니다:
CIS, NEASC
• ISU is accredited by two International Accreditation
Organizations: Council of International Schools (CIS) and the
New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

8.  IB프로그램과, 10년의 학교 인가를 위한 방문이
10월에 있을 것입니다.
 10 year accreditation visit will take place in October along
with IB (International Baccalaureate) Reauthorization.

9.  ISU는 161개의 IB월드 스쿨 중에 하나입니다. 학
교가 아래의 3개의 프로그램 모두를 가지고 있을
때 ‘IB월드 스쿨’이라 불립니다.
 ISU is one of 161 IB World Schools. A school can be called "IB
World School" if only it has all three programs:
 PYP (Primary Years Program) PK-G5
 MYP (Middle Years Program) G6-10
 DP (Diploma Program) G11-12

10.  학습평가: Assessment for academic progress
 평가지침서: Rubrics
 영역 토대 평가:Criteria-based assessments
 숙제: Homework (Primary Planner has all homeworks written
by the teachers and TA-s and Secondary students write
themselves)
 숙제는 평가지침서와 숙제마감시간이 함께 주어집
니다. Assignment is given with the rubrics for assessment
and deadline for submission
 초등학교 성적표: Reports for Primary
 중등학교 성적표: Reports for Secondary

11.  초등학교는 1학기와 2학기 두 번: Primary will have
two reports: Semester 1 and Semester 2
 중등학교는 가을 중간학기와 1학기, 봄 중간학기
와 2학기 네 번.:Secondary will have Autumn Mid Semester
Report and Semester 1, and Spring Mid Semester Report and
Semester 2 report
 당부의 말씀: 성적표는 중요한 서류입니다. 반드시
소중히 보관하셔야 하며, 학교에서 정해진 몇 년
동안 복사본을 제공하지 않습니다. Please note that
these Semester reports are important documents and you
need to keep them. School cannot provide duplicates after
certain number of years.

12. 평가 레벨은 숫자 1~4를 이용합니다.
Achievement levels are indicated by numbers 1-4 as follows:
1-도움을 받아 기준레벨을 향해서 공부하고 있음을 가리킵니다.
Working towards grade level expectations with support
2- 스스로 기준레벨을 향해 공부하고 있음을 가리킵니다.
Working towards grade level expectations
3-기준레벨에서 공부하고 있음을 가리킵니다.

4.-기준레벨을 넘어서고 있습니다.

13.  참여도가 높은 학생은 열심히 참여하며, 자발적으
로 협동하며, 책임감 있게 행동하고, 도전하며, 호
기심을 보입니다. An engaged learner is a student who
participates fully, collaborates willingly, acts responsibly,
seeks challenges and displays curiosity. This student
demonstrates these characteristics.
 1 = Rarely(드물게 나타남) 2 = Sometimes(가끔)
 3 = Usually (대게) 4 = Mostly(대부분)

14.  학생들은 영역기준에 따라 평가됩니다.
 Students are judged against a set of criteria
 각 교과목은 각각의 평가 영역이 있습니다.
 Each subject has its own set of criteria
 평가영역은 6~ 9학년, 각각 학년에 맞게 서술되어
있습니다.
 The criteria are modified in grade 6-9 to make them age
appropriate

15.  기술과목은 6개의 평가영역이
있습니다. 각 영역당 6점씩 배 Grade Boundary
정됩니다. Technology has 6 different
criteria, each judged out of 6 points

16.  ATL점수를 줄 땐, 교사는 다음에 나오는 학생의 행동을
참조합니다. When awarding the ATL grade the classroom
teacher has taken into consideration the following student
behaviors, where applicable.

 수업장비 정돈: Organization of classroom equipment
 노트와 파일의 정리 정돈: Organization of notes and files
 수업 과제완성: Completion of class work and homework

17.  ATL이란 학생의 공부 습관과 태도를 일컸습니다.
Approaches to learning refers to the students study habits
and attitudes.
 주어진 점수는 다음을 뜻합니다.
 The awarded grades mean the following:

 E (Exceeds) -모든 영역과 항상,성심을 다합니다.
conscientious in all areas all of the time
 M (Meets) - 대부분 모든 영역에서 성심을 다합니다.

 B (Below) - 많은 영역에서 눈에 띄는 실수가 있습니다.
 noticeable lapses in many areas

18. 평가: Assessment—학생이 달성한 것을 평가하는
모든 방법을 뜻하는 용어a term used to cover all the
various methods by which student achievement can be evaluated.
평가도구: Assessment instruments may include:

시험:examinations
광범위한 실질적 작업: Extended practical work
프로젝트: projects
포트폴리오와 구술: portfolios and oral work

19.  매우 공식적인 시험- 선택형 문제, 주관식 문제,
과정중심 과제; 프로젝트, 실질적 문제등. There are
some highly formalized assessment tasks, including multiple-
choice tests, but there are also many more substantial open-
ended tasks, and a focus on process through teacher marking
of student projects and practical work.
 이런 일련의 작업들은 마지막 과목 점수로 귀결됩
니다. 1~7이란 숫자는 각 과목들에서 사용되는 기
술어를 나타냅니다. This range of student performances
is reduced to a final subject grade (on a scale of 1 to 7)
according to grade descriptors, which represent the
standards for each subject.

20.  자녀에게 설명을 부탁하세요. Ask your child to explain
 초등 생인 경우, 1 또는 2를 받을 경우 그 학년 학
습에 도달하지 못하고 있음을 나타냅니다.
 In Primary if your child got 1 or 2, this means his/her
performance is not at the Grade level
 중등 생인 경우, 1또는 2를 받을 경우 그 과목에 있어 한
참 낮은 수준이며, 그 과목 선생님과 회의가 필요합니다;
3을 받을 땐, 그 과목에서 Fail을 할 위험한 상태를 나타
냅니다. In Secondary, if your child got 1 or 2 he/she
performed well below the standard in that area and a
conference needs to be held with the teacher; if it is 3 then
his/her future progress in this course is at risk

21. ISU는 출석에 대해 매우 엄격한 규칙을 갖고 있습니
다. ISU has a very strict attendance policy.
학생은 그 학년을 패스 할려면 총 수업 일의 90%를
출석해야 합니다. Students are required to attend at least
90% of each school year, or from date of enrolment, to obtain a
pass in that grade level.
즉, 10%의 결석을 의미하는데, 미리 양해를 구하던
아니든 180일중 18일만 결석이 허락됩니다. This
means there is a 10% allowance for absences that are either
explained/unexplained or unexcused. This means that in any
ONE school year of 180 days, a student can be absent for up to
18 days.

22.  어느 학생이든 90%를 채우지 못할 경우 학년 진급
과 졸업이 이루어 지지 않습니다. Any student who
fails to make the required 90% total school daily attendance
will risk not being promoted to the next grade or meeting
graduation requirements.
 지각 학생:8시 20분 이후에 도착하는 학생.
 LATE STUDENTS –arrival to school after 8.20 am
 다섯 번 지각 시 한번 결석과 동일함:
 5 lates = 1 day absence

23.  학교에 자녀가 아프다고 알리십시오:
 Inform the school if your child is sick
 학교는 부모동의 없이 어떤 약도 주지 않습니다.
ISU will not give any medication without parent consent
 입학(장) 및 야외학습시 그리고 학생의 건강에 특
별한 변화가 있을 때, 진료/알레르기 알림서를 정
확하고 완전히 작성하세요. Filling in Medical/Allergy
inform forms correctly and completely with true information
on admission, for field trips, whenever significant change in
students' health

24.  메디와 가정통신문을 정규적으로 읽으세요 그리고 매주
금요일엔 대부분의 알림장이 나갑니다. Reading Medee
and all other correspondences regularly and specially on
Fridays because we send most of the notes on Fridays

25.  학부모 교사 그룹은 매달 한 번 모임을 갖으며 학
생들이 학습활동을 더 잘 할 수 있도록 기금을 모
집합니다. PTG (Parent Teacher Group) meets once a month
and organizes fundraising activities that help school to enrich
students learning experiences
