Your teacher in Y9 will either be Mr. Windsor or Mr. Critchlow
What we expect from you
The school rules are clear and benefit everyone – stick to them
Keyboards and computers are dangerous and expensive – treat them with care
The Music Department is where musicians make music – people who take part in
choir or orchestra are welcome here at breaks and lunchtimes
What happens in Y9 music lessons
You will be:
Performing – keyboard, vocal, instrumental work
Composing – make up your own music on your own or in groups
Listening – studying music theory and history: after Christmas we will look at pop
music from the 1950s to the 1970s
What happens after Y9
You could:
Go on to do a BTEC and GCSE Music, continuing with your performing and
composing and studying music for film, dance, special occasions, pop music from
1960 to the present and orchestral music
Or drop music as a school subject
Opportunities outside music lessons
You could:
Join the orchestra, Mondays, 3.30-4.30, any standard, no audition
Join the vocal workshop, Tuesdays, 3.30-4.30, any standard, no audition
Take part in the production, Talent Show, even start your own group
Take part in the Y9 showcase
