What is the HSK?

3. The HSK is a Chinese proficiency test. It is
the standardized test of Standard Chinese
(Mandarin Chinese) language proficiency of
Mainland China for non-native speakers
such as foreign students and overseas
Chinese.
What is the HSK?

4. Test takers who are able to pass the HSK (Level II) have an
excellent grasp of basic Chinese and can communicate in simple
and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of
information on familiar and routine matters.
The HSK (Level II) is intended for students who have studied
Chinese for two semesters (an academic year), with 2-3 class
hours in each week. These students have mastered 300
commonly used words and related grammar patterns.

8. ● HSK 1 and HSK 2 are the two most basic HSK Exams,
these involve pinyin and characters
● HSK 1 and HSK 2 tests your listening and reading skills
● HSK 3 through to HSK 6 are fully in Chinese characters,
there is no pinyin in these exams
How the test works?

HSK 1-3
can understand and use very simple Chinese words and
phrases, meet basic needs for communication and possess the
ability to further their Chinese language studies.
HSK 2
have an excellent grasp of basic Chinese and can communicate
in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct
exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
HSK 1
can communicate in Chinese at a basic level in their daily,
academic and professional lives. They can manage most
communication in Chinese when travelling in China.
