My name is Ethan Vickers and I am currently completing my Junior year at Franklin High
School, part of the El Paso Independent School District. I am writing to you because I am
interested in the Summer High School Internship Program with the El Paso Electric Company. I
found out about this internship opportunity while attending class at The Center for Career and
Technology, where I take Architecture. I also went to the orientation you gave in the auditorium.
My honors and activities are as follows: National Honor Society, National Technical Honor
Society, Varsity Swim Team-3 years, Boy Scouts Troop #4, Life Scout. I have been on six Fifty
Mile backpacking / canoeing trips with my troop. I recently lead the Fifty Miler Canoe trip
down the Colorado River in the Austin Area. This activity involved 37 scouts, 7 adults. I was a
co-leader, which meant that I was responsible for the planning and execution of the trip. I
collected money, shopped, emailed communication regarding the itinerary of the trip, the meal
plan, and the scout packing list. While on the trip, I was responsible for accounting of the scouts,
and providing maps to parents following, daily food packaging and cooking. I have completed
all my required merit badges and only have to complete a community service project to be
advanced to the rank of Eagle Scout.
I think the Summer High School Internship Program with the El Paso Electric Company is a
great opportunity for someone my age because it would provide an opportunity to work in a
professional business setting. I would be grateful for the opportunity to work in any of the
