Life insurance is important for families affected by sudden death and has become a savings method for many families. This document discusses the need for computerizing an insurance company's policy and premium data management as the number of policies increased, making file-based record keeping difficult and time-consuming. The goal of the project is to develop an insurance management information system for a life insurance company called Godsend life insurance company to securely store long-term policy and payment details in a more efficient digital format.

1. Introduction
Life insurance is definitely an important factor in one's life.
It benefits anyone who is affected by a sudden death in the family. Moreover life
insurance has transformed to a means of savings in many families. Life insurance
insures a person’s life for the entire life time or for termed intervals as choosen by
the insurant. Therefore for a firm providing insurance policies it is important to store
data of insurance policies and premium payment details securely for a long term.
Earlier booking keeping of insurance data was the practice followed by the
insurance companies. But as the number of policies increased it became difficult for
the companies to keep policy data in files as well as to frequently record the
transactions in the policy. Thus the need for insurance management information
systems emerged. Through this project, I aim to computerize a life insurance
company named ‘Godsend life insurance company’.
