1. Instruction Guide for Gas Phase Chromatograph
Preparation:
Put a sheet of paper in the printer (always make sure the paper is not jamming in the
printer).
Position both 3-way-valve between the bottle table and GC chromographer- make sure
the nozzle is perpendicular. (For reference see diagram.)
Vorbereitung
Blatt am Drucker einlegen.
Stellung der beiden 3-Weg-Ventile zwischen Flashenbank und GC überprüfen (Soll-
zustand siehe Abbildung)
Step 1. Calibration
Schritt 1. Eichen
Main menu [Hauptmenu (1)] select Data set (Messreihe angeben) (Put the numbers in one at
a time with Enter).
(5) Loading / laden (5)
1. Calibration 1 (low gas concentration/ niedrige Gaskonzentrationen, dry location /
trockene Standort; E0, E1, E2). Important: set the control panel of the
Chromotograph to:
“DET” “1” “Enter” “Range” ”0” “Enter”
2. Calibration 2 (high gas concentration/ hohe Gaskonzentrationen, wet location/
feuchte Standorte; E1, E2, E3). Important: set the control panel of the
Chromotograph to:
“DET” “1” “Enter” “Range” ”1” “Enter”
Type 0 to return to main menu
(3) Performing analysis / Analyse durchführen Enter „j“ (Data name) Enter
(6) Gas Processor / Gasprozessor
(6) Graphics / Graphiken
1. (1) FID (Flame ionisation detector, sensitive for CH4) and ECD (electron capture
detector, sensitive for N20, CO2). Important: while E0 is being measured, correct the base
curve of the measurement.
-Position the base curve of the FID (gray) over the upper small wheel on the
Chromotographer, above the top of the red mark on the monitor.
- Level the white base curve of the ECD above the lower small wheel on
Chromatographer with the blue marking on display screen.
During or after the calibration, plug the glass bottles into the corresponding plots according to
the numbers listed in the protocol but DON’T open.
