This document summarizes an in-service training for tutors that focused on getting to know students. It provided updates on program news including staffing changes and new partnerships. Upcoming events were noted, including a Star Awards ceremony. Techniques for tutors to get to know students were discussed, such as introductions, asking questions, keeping journals, and an icebreaker activity of guessing truths and lies about each other. The training also covered using Individual Learning Plans to set goals and reviewed sample scenarios of tutor-student interactions. The session concluded with team-building games including Pictionary and a board race.
