People cringe when they hear the word "meditation." It's so spiritual, right? How about if they heard "silence" instead? Parents tell their children to hush; teachers instruct their students to quiet down; movie goers respectfully turn off their conversations and cell phones. Clearly, silence has value. A 10-day silent retreat transformed not just my perspective, but also my future. I'd like to share that experience with you today. Who knows, it could motivate you to step into uncharted territories, or simply boost your confidence at work. Either way, you will find a new expression of yourself begin to emerge. So why not give silence a try?

Secret Of Attachment & Detachment
TattvaGyan or true knowledge that happiness only comes from Krishna and not from worldly objects must become firm first. Initially, only a small portion of the mind will detach from seeking happiness in the world through the senses and instead fix on Krishna. Through continuous practice of detaching the mind from worldly attachments and attaching it to Krishna, over time a larger portion of the mind will shift towards Krishna attachment and away from worldly attachment, just as skills are developed over years of practice, not overnight. The key is to immediately redirect the mind to Krishna whenever detaching it from worldly objects or people, to prevent it from lingering on the lack of happiness in worldly things.

Sri Uddhava said: My dear Krishna, generally human beings know that material life brings great future unhappiness, and still they try to enjoy material life. My dear Lord, how can one in knowledge act just like a dog, an ass or a goat?
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: My dear Uddhava, a person bereft of intelligence first falsely identifies himself with the material body and mind, and when such false knowledge arises within one’s consciousness, material passion, the cause of great suffering, pervades the mind, which by nature is situated in goodness (satogun).
Then the mind, contaminated by passion, becomes absorbed in making and changing many plans for material advancement. Thus, by constantly thinking of the modes of material nature, a foolish person is afflicted with unbearable material desires.
Sri Sai Baba Philosophy
Sri Sai Baba's philosophy can be summarized in three sentences. His philosophy teaches that the mind is like a mirror that becomes covered in dust from vices like lust, envy, and anger, preventing a clear reflection of our true divine self. However, if we remove this dust by cleansing the mind of such stains, our mind will become a pure mirror clearly reflecting our inner divine nature.
Enlightenment
Enlightenment is described as a simple, natural phenomenon that has nothing to do with knowledge, intellect, or supernatural experiences. It is not an achievement but rather an understanding that there is nothing to achieve. Enlightenment is beyond the mind and rationality. For enlightened beings, there is no ego, desire, or greed remaining. While the ego may want enlightenment, true enlightenment involves being aware of and letting go of the ego. Enlightenment is described as a state of purity, innocence, and non-dreaming consciousness.

BROTHERS AND SISTERS, please read The Diamond
That Cuts through Illusion with a serene mind, a mind
free from views. It’s the basic sutra for the practice of
meditation. Late at night, it’s a pleasure to recite the
Diamond Sutra alone, in complete silence. The sutra is
so deep and wonderful. It has its own language. The
first Western scholars who obtained the text thought it
was talking nonsense. Its language seems mysterious,
but when you look deeply, you can understand.
Don’t rush into the commentaries or you may be
unduly influenced by them. Please read the sutra first.
You may see things that no commentator has seen. You
can read as if you were chanting, using your clear body
and mind to be in touch with the words. Try to
understand the sutra from your own experiences and
your own suffering. It is helpful to ask, “Do these
teachings of the Buddha have anything to do with my
daily life?” Abstract ideas can be beautiful, but if they
have nothing to do with our life, of what use are they?
So please ask, “Do the words have anything to do with
eating a meal, drinking tea, cutting wood, or carrying
water?”
The sutra’s full name is The Diamond That Cuts
through Illusion, Vajracchedika Prajñaparamita in
Sanskrit. Vajracchedika means “the diamond that cuts
through afflictions, ignorance, delusion, or illusion.” In
China and Vietnam, people generally call it the Diamond
Sutra, emphasizing the word “diamond,” but, in fact,
the phrase “cutting through” is the most important.
Prajñaparamita means “per.
