THE GREAT MAN IS HE WHO DOES NOT LOSE HIS
CHILD'S-HEART. ~MENCIUS, BOOK IV
 Why we should know our “Inner Child”?
 First 8 years of our life = 80% of a person's personality
IN EVERY REAL MAN A CHILD IS HIDDEN THAT
WANTS TO PLAY. ~FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE
 Charles J. Fillmore, American linguist
 Psychological Definition
 Carl Jung referred to a similar concept as the "Divine
Child".
 Emmet Fox called it the "Wonder Child".
 Some psychotherapists call it the "True Self“.
 Charles Whitfield dubbed it the "Child Within".
 Transactional Analysis calls it simply “Child”.
EXAMPLES OF SOME OF THE CHILDREN YOU MIGHT
FIND INSIDE ARE: HAND OUT
 The Playful Child
 The Spoiled Child
 The Neglected Child
 The Abandoned Child
 The Fearful Child
 The Unbonded Child
 The Discounted Child
 The Wise Child
 "Wise Nurturer" or "Inner Parent Self"
The Inner Child refers to that part of each of us which
is ultimately alive, energetic, creative and fulfilled; it
is our "Genuine Authentic Self", who we know deep
within us, our "Real Self.“
ERIC BERNE THEORY OF TRANSACTIONAL
ANALYSIS

ERIC BERNE'S TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS

 Nurturing (positive) and Spoiling (negative).
 Controlling - Structuring (positive) and Critical (negative).
 Adult is our 'Thought' concept of life
 Adult remains as a single entity, representing an
'accounting' function or mode, which can draw on the
resources of both Parent and Child.
 Child is our 'Felt' concept of life
 Adapted - Co-operative (positive) and Compliant/Resistant
(negative).
 Free - Spontaneous (positive) and Immature (negative).
KNOWING HOW TO OPERATE FROM THE I'M OK YOU'RE
OK MODEL WILL TRANSFORM YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH
OTHERS
A GROWNUP IS A CHILD WITH LAYERS ON. ~WOODY
HARRELSON
PEACE TO YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY TO
LOVING TO YOURSELF.
 You can encourage your Inner Parent to cuddle your
Inner Child when it is crying or needs to be heard.
Soothe you Inner Child when he or she is under
emotional stress.
 Use the awareness of the Inner Dialogues that are
going on and become apart of the path you are on
instead of being lead where you might not want to go.
 Ultimately you can heal and be a happy person in
your life.
O MEN, GROWN SICK WITH TOIL AND CARE,
LEAVE FOR AWHILE THE CROWDED MART;
O WOMEN, SINKING WITH DESPAIR,
WEARY OF LIMB AND FAINT OF HEART,
FORGET YOUR YEARS TO-DAY AND COME
AS CHILDREN BACK TO CHILDHOOD'S
HOUSE.
~PHOEBE CARY

Editor's Notes

  2. While the great philosophical distinction between mind and body in western thought can be traced to the Greeks, it is to the seminal work of René Descartes (1596-1650) French mathematician, philosopher, and physiologist, that we owe the first systematic account of the mind/body relationship.

  4. Physical Health: The factors contributing to our physical well-being include, but are not necessarily limited to, diet, activity, rest, and environment. Diet provides the basic resources our bodies need to replenish itself and fight off illness. Water is an essential component that helps our bodies to process and circulate those resources. Activity certainly includes exercise, but it also includes the regular things we do throughout our day, some of which can lead to repetitive strain injuries. Sometimes the omnipresence of such discomforts become so commonplace that we forget about them, attributing them to aging or some other process over which we have no control. Like water, proper rest is essential for the physical functioning of our bodies. Environment is a factor that can sometimes be overlooked for its influence on our health until a problem sends us to a doctor. Environment includes not just physical ergonomics, but also people, light, pollutants, and more. Mental/emotional health: Many are aware of the influence their mental and emotional states have on their health. A stressful day creates a knot in your upper back and neck. You get depressed and experience fatigue and body aches. Some take this component of health for granted. Sure, I’ve had a bad day, but that doesn’t have anything to do with how my body is feeling. Spiritual health: The spiritual impact on health is a bit more esoteric. The perspective I am coming from here is a matter of how one views the world and their place in it. Whatever your personal belief system, there may be times or situations where you are left feeling ungrounded, that life isn’t making sense. I believe that this influences mental/emotional health and thereby can also influence physical health.
  5. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is often portrayed in the shape of a pyramid, with the largest and most fundamental levels of needs at the bottom, and the need for self-actualization at the top. The most fundamental and basic four layers of the pyramid contain what Maslow called "deficiency needs" or "d-needs": esteem , friendship and love, security, and physical needs. With the exception of the most fundamental (physiological) needs, if these "deficiency needs" are not met, the body gives no physical indication but the individual feels anxious and tense. Maslow's theory suggests that the most basic level of needs must be met before the individual will strongly desire (or focus motivation upon) the secondary or higher level needs. Maslow also coined the term Metamotivation to describe the motivation of people who go beyond the scope of the basic needs and strive for constant betterment. Metamotivated people are driven by B-needs (Being Needs), instead of deficiency needs (D-Needs).

  7. Many people suffer needlessly with health problems. Headaches (including migraines), sleep disorders, recurring or bad dreams, constant aches and pains as well as health issues those are hard to find cures. Positive changes to your health and lifestyle Picture yourself on a white, sandy beach, far from anywhere and here you will find yourself in the quintessential setting for complete mental, physical and spiritual rejuvenation. The vast majority of the public is subjected every day to the intake of food preservatives and other chemical poisons including atmospheric poisons, pesticides and the like. Added to this are the pain pills, tranquilizers and other medical drugs used and prescribed by doctors. And we have as well the widespread use of marijuana, LSD, angel dust and other street drugs which contribute heavily to the scene.
  8. If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail. – Abraham Maslow General Philosophy of Health I believe that there are three components to health: physical health, mental/emotional health, and spiritual health. Further, imbalance in one can lead to imbalance in another. When the body and spirit are in balance, they are largely self-maintaining. The goal I have is restoring balance by reducing pressures that contribute to imbalance.
  9. What is good emotional health? People who have good emotional health are aware of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They have learned healthy ways to cope with the stress and problems that are a normal part of life. They feel good about themselves and have healthy relationships. However, many things that happen in your life can disrupt your emotional health and lead to strong feelings of sadness, stress or anxiety. These things include: * Being laid off from your job * Having a child leave or return home * Dealing with the death of a loved one * Getting divorced or married * Suffering an illness or an injury * Getting a job promotion * Experiencing money problems * Moving to a new home * Having a baby “Good” changes can be just as stressful as “bad” changes.
