HP OpenMCM is a wholly unique APM system (Application Performance Monitoring) developed by HP Korea. It is able to monitor and trace operational statuses of end-to-end transactions in real-time. ALTIBASE HDB met extreme speed requirements and need for integrated on-disk storage, creating feasibility and fostering low TCO.
ALTIBASE® HDB™ is the only Hybrid DBMS in the industry that combines an in-memory DBMS with an on-disk DBMS, with a single uniform interface, enabling real-time access to large volumes of data, while simplifying and revolutionizing data processing.
Altibase is provider of In-Memory data solutions for real-time access, analysis and distribution of high volumes of data in mission-critical environments.

CASE STUDY FOR SOLUTIONS
3. + Overview
Altibase
Altibase is provider of In-Memory
data solutions for real-time access,
analysis and distribution of high
volumes of data in mission-critical
environments.
HP (Hewlett-Packard)
HP provides comprehensive, global IT
solutions to enterprise clients.
HP OpenMCM is a wholly unique
APM system (Application
Performance Monitoring) developed
by HP Korea. It is able to monitor and
trace operational statuses of end-to-
end transactions in real-time.
In-Memory Database Solution
4. + Problems
HP Korea was confronted with a performance bottleneck. HP could not resolve
its contradictory needs while designing and developing its OpenMCM APM
system. The requirements for an effective solution were unprecedented,
coupling extreme speed with large data storage. The situation was dire and HP
nearly shelved the project.
HP’s OpenMCM data processing requirement was a minimum of 30,000 transactions
per second (TPS).
HP’s first blush, utilizing a traditional on-disk DBMS, yielded tragically low TPS.
HP then tested another company’s in-memory processing technology which
produced better performance, but still fell short of the mark, with only 20,000 TPS.
Additional challenges existed as it could not solve HP OpenMCM’s correlated, data
storage needs.
TCO presented a massive hurdle. System memory limitations of an in-memory only
DBMS necessitated the purchase of a supplemental on-disk DBMS.
Facing such pervasive impediments, HP could not implement key, additional features,
such as real-time analytics.
HP’s OpenMCM prospects were bleak.
In-Memory Database Solution
5. + Solution
HP’s requisite need for high performance and large storage
capacity was found in ALTIBASE HDB’s unique Hybrid
architecture of in-memory / on-disk DBMS. ALTIBASE HDB met
extreme speed requirements and need for integrated on-disk
storage, creating feasibility and fostering low TCO.
In-Memory Database Solution
6. + Results
Leveraging ALTIBASE HDB’s 45,000 TPS and Hybrid feature, HP is the
complete APM solution.
Born from ALTIBASE HDB’s core capabilities, speed and limitless storage
size, HP OpenMCM possesses robust features, including real-time
analytics.
DBA’s can manage ALTIBASE HDB quickly and efficiently.
HP OpenMCM saves clients significant money. System administration tasks
are considerably easier than alternatives.
HP OpenMCM resides with 22 enterprise clients including but not limited
to: Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance, Samsung Card Services, KB Bank,
Korea National Pension Services and Korea Securities Depository.
