Speaking times vary at each competition
For purpose of tryout, student will be government speaker. Will be given a topic and given 10 minutes to prepare – then must speak for 3 minutes
A past competitor or coach will be up against them (as opposition)
They are expected to simply prove that they can think on their feet, form an argument and refute the opposition’s points
