Want to heal healthcare? Let's talk about ... money. How much IS that? Let's all ask, and drive some transparency in our very high-cost, low-transparency system.
Shared decision making is the only path to full participation in any industry. In healthcare, the drive to "adherence" and "compliance" has been a one-way street. People want to trust their healthcare team. Build and sustain that trust by sharing the science behind the treatment, and discussing the options and outcomes. Build literacy, build engagement, build trust.

Isaac's Health Care Archimedes talk at Apollo CollegeIsaac Holeman
These are slides for a talk I gave at Apollo College of Nursing on 11.4.08 - Election Day. The topic of the two hour presentation was Health Care reform, the Archimedes movement, and leadership in health care. The slides are heavily modified from a basic version that many speakers from the Archimedes Movement use. This was my second talk at Apollo college. Thank you so much Jessica for inviting me, and to all you nursing students for listening so intently.
cheers
Isaac
Will New Healthcare Policy Impact Value-Based Healthcare?Health Catalyst
The final days of 2016 were fraught with uncertainty about what Congress and the new Trump Administration would do to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the healthcare regulatory landscape overall. So far, in 2017, we do not have much more clarity. Repeal, repeal and replace, repeal and delay, modify without repeal—there are now even more questions than answers and still no consensus Republican plan in sight. Yet healthcare executives would certainly appreciate some modicum of clarity, at least on the narrower topic of whether the shift to value-based healthcare models will continue under whatever new system is coming. This webinar attempts to add clarity by analyzing what we know so far, as reflected in the limited actual evidence that is available.
Join Dan Orenstein, General Counsel, Health Catalyst, as he analyzes these three key pieces of information:
The 21st Century Cures Act (Cures)
The Executive Order on reducing the “burden” of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
Tom Price’s comments at his confirmation hearings
Healthcare changes a compilation of infographics to tell a story of what's...Dr. Susan Dorfman
This started as an internal project I wanted to do for myself and my team, but later decided to share it. It represents the current and future state of healthcare, based on perspectives and infographics gathered from industry expert sources (each cited with a url to the original source of the image or chart) - with commentary in headers created by me to help put things into perspective. I also tried tried to provide a view of current and future states, including implications to varying stakeholders including patients, physicians and pharma

Our biggest problem in healthcare is efficiency (quality of care per dollar spent) and Obamacare doesn't solve it. Our spending is off the charts by any measure (growth over time, % of GDP, per capita) Consumerism as a force of change in Healthcare is just getting started, but there are many barriers in place that serve to protect existing stakeholders in the industry. Knocking down these barriers to competition is what the GOP should be focusing on, but it's not. "Repeal and replace" seems to be a slogan, not a plan. Do Republican lawmakers have the will to make changes that might upset entrenched players?
Technology must support human relationships if it impacts humans, and there's no place that's more true than in healthcare. Ivan Handler and Casey Quinlan share their perspectives on health tech, data sharing, and the clinical relationship between people and their care teams.

Compliance, Adherence, or Participation? Creating a Framework for Patient-Cli...Mighty Casey Media Inc.
My deck for a talk at ExL Pharma's 7th Patient Engagement, Education, and Adherence (ed. note: blergh - not a great word to spark patient participation in care) Summit.
If people, and the clinical teams that care for them, could fully share all the information about their medical history, their lives, their risks, their goals ... WOW, that would be a real *health* care system, wouldn't it?
A deck I used as background for a session at a creative coalition event where I talked up rabble-rousing and trouble-making as a catalyst for change. I was focused (as always) on how I deploy that principle in my work to transform healthcare ... but I think it works for any industry.
The deck I use for a half-day social media seminar I lead for a creative-training company. Building a profile, setting up a listening post, social media PR, and the art of business conversation online. Covering what I call the Big Three (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn), as well as blogging, editorial calendars, and image-sharing platforms.
The slides used for a social media lunch and learn session at TECHEAD on Sept. 28, 2012. Short'n'snappy version of a course that, in its full form, lasts two days!

Medical Technology Tackles New Health Care Demand - Research Report - March 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) predicts that with, against, despite, and even without the global pandemic, the medical technology (MedTech) industry shows signs of continuous healthy growth, driven by smaller, faster, and cheaper devices, growing demand for home-based applications, technological innovation, strategic acquisitions, investments, and SPAC listings. MCG predicts that this should reflects itself in annual growth of over 6%, well beyond 2028.
According to Chris Mouchabhani, Managing Partner at M Capital Group, “Despite all economic scenarios that one may consider, beyond overall economic shocks, medical technology should remain one of the most promising and robust sectors over the short to medium term and well beyond 2028.”
There is a movement towards home-based care for the elderly, next generation scanning and MRI devices, wearable technology, artificial intelligence incorporation, and online connectivity. Experts also see a focus on predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory, and precision medicine, with rising levels of integration of home care and technological innovation.
The average cost of treatment has been rising across the board, creating additional financial burdens to governments, healthcare providers and insurance companies. According to MCG, cost-per-inpatient-stay in the United States alone rose on average annually by over 13% between 2014 to 2021, leading MedTech to focus research efforts on optimized medical equipment at lower price points, whilst emphasizing portability and ease of use. Namely, 46% of the 1,008 medical technology companies in the 2021 MedTech Innovator (“MTI”) database are focusing on prevention, wellness, detection, or diagnosis, signaling a clear push for preventive care to also tackle costs.
In addition, there has also been a lasting impact on consumer and medical demand for home care, supported by the pandemic. Lockdowns, closure of care facilities, and healthcare systems subjected to capacity pressure, accelerated demand away from traditional inpatient care. Now, outpatient care solutions are driving industry production, with nearly 70% of recent diagnostics start-up companies producing products in areas such as ambulatory clinics, at-home care, and self-administered diagnostics.
