In 2003, a company called Duramore was sold to create Infinity Battery. In 2005, several major tech companies merged to work on this battery project. In June of that year, the company restructured to become more efficient and expand its product line. In 2007, the company hit problems and had to lay off workers. It then improved its products in 2008 by investing in new tools, equipment, and training for employees. The updated battery had a lifetime of 100 years. By 2009, the company was launching new products, opening subsidiaries, and seeing major financial success with an annual turnover of $1 billion and $2 billion in investments. It became a top market leader and supplier of batteries to phone companies.
