5. INTRODUCTION
Unequal distribution of assets among different segments of society is
hindrance to socioeconomic development of a country. Inequality in the
distribution of land can be studied into two ways:
a. Lorenz curve analysis: It is a graph designed to show the extent
of inequality in distribution of a variable throughout a population (Named
after American statistician Conard Lorenz)
b. Gini ratio analysis: Gini ratio is an aggregate measure of
inequality of a distribution which varies from zero to one (Named after
Italian statistician Corrado Gini) and also termed as Gini concentration
ration or simply Gini coefficient. It can be calculated as:
G=|∑Yi+1 Xi - ∑Xi+1 Yi |
• Where, G and X & Y are the Gini ratio and cumulative proportions
respectively.
6. Collected Data from Kotiyadi Kishorganj where the number and area of
farm household are as follows

0-.06 33 45
.064-.303 50 350
.306-.606 40 520
.636-1 33 693

=|2.419229-1.842403|
= 0.576826
Interpretation: The distribution of land among individuals is highly
unequal.
10. Conclusion
The purpose of our research is to gain knowledge about
inequality in land distribution. It will help in policy making of
government and different program running of development
agencies.
