Considering the skyrocketing realty
prices in the state, Konkan Board of
the Maharashtra Housing and Area
Development Authority (MHADA)
has decided to construct affordable
housing projects on 400 plots located
in Thane, Ambarnath, Raigad,
Konkan and Sindhudurg, rather than
selling them through its lottery system. Konkan Board Chief Officer Dr

Bhausaheb Dangade said, “Earlier, we
had plans to sell the 400 plots, but
now we have decided to construct affordable housing projects on them.
This will help MHADA generate more
revenue and provide affordable housing to people.” Another official
claimed the housing body has plots
on prime locations in the above-mentioned areas.

Arunachal is "integral and important part" of India: Pranab
On one of the rare Presidential visits to this part of the country,
incumbent Pranab Mukherjee on Friday asserted that Arunachal
Pradesh is an integral and important part of the Northeast region of
India and a core stake holder in country's 'Look East' foreign policy.
In comments that will be read with interest in Beijing, which lays
claim over parts of the state, he said no longer should this region be
considered remote. "The Centre and the state government should
together rapidly build the infrastructure linkages and connectivity
with the rest of India that is required and this legislature and the people
of Arunachal should extend every assistance possible to this venture,"
he said in his address to Arunachal Pradesh assembly. China, which has
raised disputes regarding India's sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh,
has of late upped the ante by issuing stapled visas to residents of the
state in a bid to buttress its claim. But the visits by Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh some years ago and the President now are seen as an
attempt by India to send a clear message to China that India has an
unassailable sovereignty over the state.

Centre to frame guidelines
to regulate TV contents
The Supreme Court asked three central ministries and others
including Press Council of India (PCI) to respond to a PIL seeking
framing of guidelines to regulate contents of television channels.
A bench of Chief Justice P Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi
on Friday issued notices to ministries of Information and Broadcasting, Law and Justice and Communications & Information Technology. Besides them, PCI, Election Commission, News Broadcasters Association, Indian Broadcasting Foundation and Advertising
Standards Council of India have also been asked to respond to the
PIL which has been filed by Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, a registered
public charitable trust, through its Mumbai-based lawyer Rajeev K
Panday. The plea also said the court should declare that a 2008
government order will not preclude an authorised officer under the
Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act from initiating criminal
prosecution against a channel in case of violation of provisions of
the Act. It alleged that there is "complete absence" of regulatory
authority for TV Channels. The petition raises a substantial question of public importance and public interest relating to the necessity of an effective regulation of electronic media in matters involving public morality, public decorum, social tranquillity and public
order "There is no regulatory body for TV channels which is comparable with Press Council of India that regulates the print media.
Though TV channels are audio-visual media, there is no censorship on their contents. In other words, a film that cannot be released without censor certificate can straightaway be released on a
TV channel," the PIL said. The PIL said the so-called self-regulation by electronic media has proved to be "completely ineffective"
as the "self-regulating bodies" are private companies and are under control of the media houses. "The private bodies have a limited
power of imposing fine upto Rs one lakh which goes into their
own kitty. There is no compensation to victim of media abuse.
There is also no control of government over these bodies. These
bodies are not accountable to people as they are not organs of
the state," it said. The law relating to emergency blocking of
objectionable website without prior notice as contained in the
Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for blocking for access of information by public) Rules, 2009 is much
more rigorous as compared to TV channels for which there is no

166 people during the three-day
assault by 10 Pakistani terrorists,
are still fresh in the minds of
people. A memorial service was
held at Bombay Police Gymkhana,
where Chief Minister of
Maharashtra Prithviraj Chouhan
and other ministers laid wreath to
pay homage to the martyrs. At the
Nariman House, the Rabbi
conducted a memorial service, as
the Jewish Chabad House at
Colaba was completely destroyed
during the attacks. Friends and
family members of victims lay
flowers, wreaths and lit candles

at Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus
(CST), Taj Mahal Hotel, Oberoi
Trident and Leopold café.
These places also held their
own private memorial
services. The attacks, which
drew widespread global
criticism lasted for three days.
Ajmal Amir Kasab, the only
attacker of the 10 terrorists,
who was captured alive, was
hanged on 21st November
last year and buried at
Yerwada Jail in Pune.

CBI seizes gold worth Rs. 67 lakh, FDs from SBI officer's home

others were booked by the agency
in a graft case related to disbursal

Rs. 75 crore was approved.
Mr Kumarah, who had joined
Worlds Window Group after
leaving SBI as an advisor,
allegedly tried to get loans
cleared for the company using
his contacts in the bank, the
agency said.
CBI said an arrangement was
reached between Mr Kumarah

and Mr Goyal under which he was
to get Rs. 25 lakh for his services
and Rs. 15 lakh for Mr Acharya.
Mr Kumarah allegedly
purchased two high-end
watches, Rolex and Omega
brands, worth about Rs. 7.75 lakh
to be given to Mr Acharya for his
alleged favours, they said.
Meanwhile, the agency came
to know about this deal and a trap
was laid. Mr Kumarah, who was
coming out from the residence of
Mr Acharya after allegedly giving
him watches, was nabbed by a
waiting CBI team.

Sachin Tendulkar is UNICEF's Shipping Min launches CSR

Man reportedly electrocuted while using
iPhone 4S with third-party charger
Mumbai (AU News network) :In a rare but
not entirely unprecedented incident, a man in
Thailand was reportedly declared dead after being
electrocuted while using his Apple iPhone 4S when
it was charging. It's worth
pointing out that the
charger was found to be
third-party one, and not the
original Apple-supplied
charger.
The 28-year old man
from Chanthaburi province
was found dead in his
room with burn marks
across the body and hand.
The report claims that the
man was holding his
iPhone 4S at the time of
death and that the smartphone was hooked to a
power outlet.
While the exact cause of death has not been
ascertained, the report speculates that the man
might have been talking on the smartphone while
charging it, and that the charger could have
overheated resulting in the electrocution.
In a similar incident, a Chinese woman was
killed by an electric shock when answering a call
on her iPhone 5 while it was charging in July this
year. Soon after, Apple announced a probe looking

into the death of the woman. Previously, an
Apple iPhone 5 even exploded during phone
call in Thailand.
To counter such incidents involving

unauthorised after-market accessories,
Apple had in August announced a trade-in
program for third-party chargers, where
people with counterfeit or third-party power
adaptors could swap them for certified Apple
models for the local equivalent of $10.
Samsung has not been far from such
incidents as well, as the company's 2013
flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4
reportedly exploded and burned down a
house in Hong Kong.

'Bullett Raja' review: Saif Ali
Khan dazzles in this Dhulia flick
As a

Sometimes you are left
wondering why the potential of a star is not used to
its full extent more often.
Tigmanshu
Dhulia’s
‘Bullett Raja' is a good example of what Saif Ali Khan
is actually capable of, reminding you of ‘Langda
Tyagi’ from ‘Omkara’. Yet
it is not a repeat of the old
act. This rustic act of Saif
Ali Khan makes you want
more. Saif plays Raja
Mishra, a trigger happy
small town boy who turns
into a fully fledged gangster as he gets entangled
in a shootout. The story

then plots his and his friend
Rudra’s (played by Jimmy
Shergill) journey in the politics and violence of Uttar
Pradesh. Raja and Rudra
then make their way up into
main stream politics while
playing henchmen for the
leading opposition party
leader. The movie is action
packed and the director
does not try and keep it understated to attract crowds.
He does not try to pull off
‘Dabangg’ style stunts either. The hair raising action
sequences are fantastically
paced and the wit and
humour used to set off the

scenes remind you why
Dhulia is a genius. The
characters of Raja and
Rudra make compelling anti
heroes. They are loyal, romantic, witty, macho,
strong and exude panache
in every move. The movie
has an great cast ensemble.
Gulshan Grover and Raj
Babbar in negative characters make you nostalgic for
their performances in the
90s. Even Chunky Pandey,
who plays a negative
cameo in the first half is really commendable. Jimmy
as usual makes you think
why he is so underused in

Bollywood and why more
directors don’t take him on
board. He seems to be one
of Tigmanshu’s favourite
actors – with a splendid performance in this movie, the
director is not far off the
mark. Sonakshi Sinha plays
her 'typical' Bollywood
heroine role, and does not
have much to contribute.
Even the romantic angle
given to the movie is wasteful. Ravi Kishen plays a
character with a lot of potential in the movie and
could have been utilised
better. A special mention
should go to Vidyut

Jamwal. If after Akshay
Kumar there is dearth of a
true action hero in
Bollywood; Vidyut is the
answer. Even though he
comes onscreen only for
the last 45 minutes or so,
he delivers a power packed
performance and the jaw
dropping stunts which he
has choreographed and executed himself are breath
taking. Added to this his
good looks and a well toned
body would ensure his female fan following only
growing with more projects.
The movie is all about
the refreshingly original
screenplay and the tight
direction. The dialogues
(written by Tigmanshu himself) are crisp and witty and
don’t fizzle out at any part
of the movie. They are not
over done either. Some of
them got wolf whistles as
the audience cheered the
actors for some more.
“Brahman bhukha toh
Sudama, samjha toh
Chanakya aor rutha toh
Ravaan.” (When a Brahmin
is hungry, he is Sudama;
when he understands, he is
Chanakya; and when angry, he is Raavan)
“Uttar Pradesh ki
raajneeti me koi khas nahi
hota, jo jaan deta hai wahi
khaas hota hai.” (In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, no-

body is a favourite. The one
who can give his life for
you is the favourite.) With
all the pluses in the movie
however, the songs in the
movie are disappointing.
Sajid-Wajid have provided
a good background score
with a true Hollywood
western style mouth organ
playing at the pauses and
the intense parts of the
movie. But, the songs are
badly placed. ‘Dont touch
me’ and ‘Tamanche pe
disco’ make you think why
the director needed to put
these tracks at all when he
could have easily done
without them. Dhulia’s
biggest mass entertainer
venture yet, ‘Bullett Raja’
is not your usual gravity
defying stunt filled motion
picture that asks you to
leave your brains behind.
The twists and turns in
the plot keep you rooted
to the seats for the entire
movie. They might be
somewhat predictable but
are not stretched and
don’t underestimate the
intelligence of the viewer.
The movie is a must watch
for anyone who loves hard
core action. It is not as intense as Dhulia’s previous
ventures were, but ‘Bullett
Raja’ will surely not let you
down.

wacky and unpredictable.
The two actors will have a
ball playing their outgoing
zestful characters," the

Both Kareena and
Farhan were keen to work
with one another.

Mumbai International film festival to be organized from Feb 3-9

MUMBAI : (AU News network) The 13th edition of
Mumbai International film festival for Documentary, Short
and Animation Films (MIFF) will be organized by Films
Division at the National Centre for Performing Arts

(NCPA), Mumbai from February 3 to 9, 2014.
This was announced by V S Kundu, Director
General, Films Division and Director, MIFF 2014 while addressing media persons in Panaji
Films Division sources reports that the
oldest and largest international film festival for
the non-feature and animation films in Asia,
MIFF-2014 brings a lot of valuable content for
film makers and cinefiles. Apart from best
director, awards have been introduced for
producer, cinematographer, editor, sound
recordist and animator. Awards for the most
innovative film, named after Pramod Pati, and
most popular film of the festival have also been
instituted taking the total number of awards to
32 from 22 in the MIFF 2012. A veteran Indian
documentary film maker will be honoured with
V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award.
MIFF will distribute cash awards worth 55 lac
rupees apart from Golden Conches, trophies and
certificates to the winners in different categories.

AK Ganguly named as judge
accused of harassing intern

has revealed that the former judge
accused of sexually harassing an
intern in December is AK
Ganguly. "I am totally innocent,"
he said, " I have worked with
several interns in my life... a large
number of them... I treat them like
my children."
The former judge has testified
for three serving Supreme Court
judges who are investigating the
charges. So has the young
woman lawyer who complained
against him in a blog earlier this
month, without naming him. She

said he harassed her in a hotel
room in December.
Justice Ganguly was on the
bench which delivered a landmark
verdict in February 2012,
cancelling 122 licenses for mobile
networks, on the grounds that
they had been allocated without
transparency.
The committee handling the
inquiry against him submitted its
report to the Chief Justice of India,
P Sathasivam. Justice Ganguly,
who retired earlier this year, is now
the Chairman of the West Bengal
Human Rights Commission.

MLC's kin arrested for objectionable
remarks against Bhujbal

Nashik District Central co-op
bank Advay Hiray has been
arrested and remanded in police
custody till December 2 by a
court here for allegedly posting
some "objectionable" comments
on Facebook against state
minister Chaggan Bhujbal.
Advay, brother of MLC Apurva
Hiray, was produced before the
court yesterday after he was
arrested on discharge from
Nashik civil hospital, where he
was admitted on Thursday night
following health problems. NCP
youth leader Vaibhav Devre had
lodged a complaint against
Advay in city's Ambad police
station for posting "obscene and
objectionable" remarks against
the District Guardian minister on
Facebook, police said on
Saturday. Following this, police
had registered a case against
Advay under sections 323, 504,
IT 66 (A) and 67 (A) of IPC and
IT Act, but could not place him
under
arrest
due
to
hospitalisation.

A cross complaint was also
lodged by Advay against four
NCP youth activists-- Vaibhav
Devre, Dhiraj Magar, Mukesh
shevale and Amol Naik -- for
allegedly ransacking his office in
Pawan Nagar locality and

damaging his car on Thursday
over the FB post. The activists
were arrested and remanded in
four-day police custody
yesterday. Advay's brother
Apurva is a MLC from Nashik
division teachers' constituency.

Class 9 student hangs herself in Kandivali home
(AU News network) A 13 year old girl committed suicide by
hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her Kandivali residence on
Saturday afternoon. The police said that the reason for her taking
the extreme step is still not known. The deceased, Sailee Chawan,
a class 9 student, hung herself using a dupatta at her apartment.
She was alone at home. Her parents discovered her body, when
they returned around 3 pm. No suicide note has been found.

CR fines over 1,200 for traveling
in ladies, handicapped coaches
In a special drive conducted by Central Railway's (CR)
Railway Protection Force in Mumbai division since Nov. 18 at
least 1,212 people were arrested for traveling in the ladies'
coach, entering the handicap coach, trespassing, traveling without tickets, creating nuisance in railway premises. A total of
Rs.1.63 lakh was collected as fine from them, said Alok Bohra,
senior divisional security commissioner, RPF, CR.

Going online saves state Rs.50 cr in 5 years
Mumbai (Dev Gaurva Pawar) : The state saved up to
Rs.50 crore in the past five years by offering services over the
internet. E-service centres in villages and districts have reduced corruption in cash disbursement cases, a government
source said. Also, elimination of agents and their fees has helped
people save their money.
In terms of e-transactions concerning government sponsored schemes, the highest public response was for land record
or 7/12 extract registrations and certificates, followed by other
services such as income certificate, domicile certificate, utility
services, bank transactions, ticketing and tax payments.

Murder accused arrested from
Kolhapur hideout after 20 years
A murder accused, who had been evading arrest for the past 20
years, was arrested by the Mumbai police from his hideout in Kolhapur
on Monday. The NM Joshi Marg police said Gorakshe Bapu Patil
was produced before a local court on Tuesday and remanded in Judicial custody till December 12. A resident of Wani Chawl in Lower
Parel, he worked in a cold drink shop in the area. The incident took
place in May 1992, when he assaulted one Mangesh Shetty, 21, with
a sharp weapon after the latter picked up a fight with him for not
giving him juice as asked.

South Mumbai corporator files
molestation complaint against 4
A 55 year old corporator from South Mumbai on Tuesday lodged a
complaint with the Azad Maidan police alleging that she was molested
by four people over a parking row. The police said the incident occurred
on October 22, when the victim, an Andheri resident, parked her car in the
compound of GT Hospital. She said the four men told her she had parked
in a no parking area, after which a verbal fight ensued. She alleged the
four touched her inappropriately, abused her and threatened her.

Pappu Kalani convicted for murder conspiracy in 23-yr-old case
Thane (AU News network) : Former
Ulhasnagar MLA Suresh alias Pappu Kalani
and three others were on Friday found guilty
by a court here in a 23-year-old murder case.
Kalani was convicted for criminal conspiracy by Additional Sessions Judge
Rajeshwari Bapat-Sarkar here, who acquitted two others for want of evidence.
One Ghanashyam Bhatija was murdered
in Ulhasnagar on February 27, 1990 near the
Pinto Resorts in Ulhasnagar in the district.
His brother Inder Bhatija, who had seen his
brother getting gunned down, was himself
shot dead on April 28, 1990 despite having
police protection.

According to police, both the murders were a
fall-out of long-standing political and criminal enmities.
The police filed charge sheet against Pappu
Kalani, Bacchi Pandey, Baba Gabrial, Mohamad
Asrat, Dr Narendra Ramsinghani,, and one Richard. While Bacchi, Baba and Mohamad were
held guilty of murder and conspiracy, Kalani was
convicted only for conspiracy (section 120-B of
Indian Penal Code).
The remaining two were acquitted. Sentences
would be announced tomorrow. Kalani was president of Ulhasnagar Municipal Council and MLA
of Congress at one time. Later he floated his own
party.

Rs 40 lakh donated to Saibaba
Trust on behalf of late devotee
Shirdi: A Chennai-based
woman donated Rs 40 lakh to the
Saibaba Sansthan Trust here to
fulfil the last wish of her late
mother-in-law Lilavati Devi.
The woman, Sarladevi, lost
her mother-in-law recently. As per
the devotee's wishes, the family
sold the property in her name and
donated the amount to the temple
trust, Sansthan sources said on
Saturday. Sarladevi and family
visited the temple on Friday and
donated a ventilator worth Rs 14
lakh to the Sansthan hospital. The
remaining amount is to be utilised
for other purposes, they added.
The donor's family was felicitated
by the Sansthan on the occasion.

GoM finalises report on Andhra Pradesh

Arvind Kejriwal enrolled as voter in three places : BJP tells EC
New Delhi : The state unit of the BJP on Sunday lodged a complaint
with the Election Commission, alleging that Aam Aadmi Party chief
Arvind Kejriwal is enrolled as a voter in three places two in Delhi and
one in Uttar Pradesh. The letter dated November 22 said Kejriwal has
voter identity cards issued from Sahibabad constituency in Uttar
Pradesh, and Seemapuri and New Delhi constituencies in the national
capital. The Sahibabad and Seemapuri cards bear the same
identification numbers. We have obtained the information from the
official websites of the chief electoral officers of Uttar Pradesh and
Delhi, said BJP member Satish Upadhyay. Upadhyay and fellow party
member Harish Khurana had written the letter.

AK-47s stolen from minister's drunk guards
Hazaribag : Drinking and passing out in Maoist affected areas may
have its own pit falls. Two AK-47 rifles with 150 rounds of ammunitions
and one service revolver along with 35 bullets were stolen late on
Saturday night from the bodyguards of Jharkhand minister for excise
Jai Prakash Bhai Patel.
Police sources said that the three guards were drunk and fell asleep.

AAP files criminal defamation suit
against CEO of "Media Sarkar"
Aam Aadmi Party, AAP today filed a criminal
defamation complaint in a Delhi court against the
CEO of news portal "Media Sarkar" for releasing a
doctored video allegedly showing some AAP
candidates accepting funds through illegal means.
Besides CEO, the Party has also named two Officials
of a private news channel as accused, saying they
alleged carried out the sting operation without
verifying its veracity. The plea, which was filed by
AAP and Dinesh Mohania, who is contesting the
upcoming Delhi assembly polls from Sangam Vihar
constituency was shown in the sting operation. The
matter is expected to come up for hearing on
November 27.

Centre allocates Rs 1,000 cr for skill
devp of 10 L youth in this fiscal
Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that
the Centre has allocated 1,000 crore rupees for the
skill development of 10 lakh youth in this fiscal. The
Finance Minister said this while inaugurating a rural
skill development centre at Amaravathiputhur in Tamil
Nadu set up by the National Skill Development
Corporation. He said, only 15 per cent of students
get their skills upgraded and get jobs abroad, while
20 per cent do not have any future due to lack of
skills. Mr Chidambaram said, NSDC is currently
training youths in 17 sectors to improve and develop
their skills and help them get jobs and also to regulate
jobs in 367 sectors.

CBI court frames charges against
six retired judges in PF scam
Ghaziabad : A special CBI court here framed charges of corruption,
cheating and forgery against six retired district judges of Ghaziabad
in the multi crore Provident Fund scam. Court also framed charges
against 65 persons involved in the scam under various sections of
the IPC. Special CBI Judge AK Singh framed charges against six
retired judges RP Mishra, RP Yadav, AK Singh, RS Choubey, RN
Mishra, and Arun Kumar who were district judges of Ghaziabad
between 2001 and 2008. The scam was unearthed in February 2008
after the then Ghaziabad special CBI Judge Rama Jain registered
an FIR in this regard, he said.

26 reasons why CBI court sentenced Talwars in Aarushi case

no direct evidence but CBI has
placed a "clinching wealth of
circumstances" from which the
guilt of Rajesh Talwar and his wife
Nupur has been made out for
murdering their daughter Aarushi
and domestic help Hemraj, Judge
Shyam Lal said while outlining 26
reasons for sentencing the couple
to rigorous life imprisonment.
"From the evidence as
tendered by the prosecution in
form of oral and documentary
evidence this court reaches to the
irresistible and impeccable
conclusion that only the accused
persons are responsible for
committing this ghastly crime as
the following circumstances
unerringly point towards the
hypothesis of guilt of the
accused," the 210-page order said,
while pointing out 26
circumstances leading to the
conviction.
1. That irrefragably on the
fateful night of May 15 and 16,
2008 both the accused were last
seen with both the deceased in Flat
No. L-32, Jalvayu Vihar at about
9.30 pm by Umesh Sharma, the
driver of Rajesh Talwar;
2. That on the morning of May
16, 2008 at about 6.00 A.M.
Aarushi was found murdered in
her bed-room which was adjacent

to the bedroom of the accused and
there was only partition wall
between two bed-rooms;
3. That the dead body of the
servant Hemraj was found lying
in the pool of blood on the terrace
of flat no. L-32, Jalvayu Vihar on
May 17, 2008 and the door of
terrace was found locked from
inside;
4. That there is a close
proximity between the point of time
when both the accused and the
deceased persons were last seen
together alive and the deceased
were murdered in the intervening
night of May 15 and 16, 2008 and
as such the time is so small that
possibility of any other person(s)
other than the accused being the
authors of the crime becomes
impossible;
5. That the door of Aarushi's
bed-room was fitted with
automatic click-shut lock. Mahesh
Kumar Mishra, the then S.P. (City),
NOIDA has deposed that when he
talked to Rajesh Talwar on May
16, 2008 in the morning, he had told
him that in the preceding night at
about 11.30 P.M. He had gone to
sleep with the key after locking the
door of Aarushi's bed-room from
outside. Both the accused have
admitted that door of Aarushi's
bed-room was having automaticclickshut lock like that of a hotel,
which could not be opened from

outside without key but could be
opened from inside without key.
No explanation has been offered
by the accused as to how the lock
of Aarushi's room was opened and
by whom.
6. That the internet remained
active in the night of the gory
incident suggesting that at least
one of the accused remained
awake;
7. That there is nothing to
show that an outsider(s) came
inside the house in the said night
after 9.30 P.M.;
8. That there was no disruption
in the supply of electricity in that
night;
9. That no person was seen
loitering near the flats in
suspicious circumstances during
that night;
10. That there is no evidence
of forcible entry of any outsider(s)
in the flat in the night of
occurrence;
11. That there is no evidence
of any larcenous act in the flat;
12. That in the morning of May
16, 2008 when the maid came to
the flat for the purpose of cleaning
and mopping, a false pretext was
made by Nupur Talwar that door
might have been locked from
outside by the servant Hemraj
although it was not locked or
latched from outside;
13. That the house maid Bharti
Mandal has nowhere stated that
when she came inside the flat both
the accused were found weeping;
14. That from the testimony of
Bharti Mandal it is manifestly clear
that when she reached the flat and
talked to Nupur Talwar then at that
time she had not complained about
the murder of her daughter and
rather she told the maid deliberately
that Hemraj might have gone to
fetch milk from Mother dairy after
locking the wooden door from
outside. This lack of spontaneity
is relevant under section 8 of the
Evidence Act;
15. That the clothes of both
the accused were not found
soaked with blood. It is highly
unnatural that parents of
deceased Aarushi will not cling to

Kanchi seers acquitted
in Sankararaman case

The Kanchi Sankaracharyas, Jayendra Saraswathi
and Vijayendra Saraswathi, come out of the
Puducherry Sessions Court, which freed them in the
Sankararaman murder case, on Wednesday.
(AU News network) :The Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri
Jayendra Saraswathi, and the junior Acharya, Sri
Vijayendra Saraswathi, were acquitted by a Sessions
Court here on Wednesday in the Sankararaman murder
case, bringing an eight-year trial to a close.
The court also acquitted 22 other accused, including
one who had died during the trial.

In the nearly 250-page judgment, Principal District
Sessions Judge C.S. Murugan said the September
3, 2004 murder of A. Sankararaman, manager of
the Sri Varadarajaperumal temple at
Kancheepuram, had not been proved because
more than 20 prosecution witnesses turned hostile.
Further, the witnesses who identified the accused
in a parade failed to do so before the court.
The court also referred to a Supreme Court
observation - in the order granting bail to Sri
Jayendra Saraswathi - that Prem Kumar, then
Superintendent of Police, Kancheepuram (since
deceased), had taken an undue interest and active
participation in the investigation, beyond what
was required under the law. This was proved by
witnesses. What with his intervention, a fair and
proper probe was not done by the Chief
Investigating Officer.
The accused included N. Sundaresan, who was
manager of the Sankara Mutt; the junior pontiff's
brother M.K. Raghu; and K.G. Krishnasamy alias
Appu. The trial was shifted to Puducherry from
Tamil Nadu in 2005.

in the nearby room and his top
priority will be to run away from the
crime scene immediately.
18. That no outsider(s) will
bother to take the body of Hemraj to
the terrace. Moreover, a single
person cannot take the body to the
terrace;
19. That the door of the terrace
was never locked prior to the
occurrence but it was found locked
in the morning of May 16, 2008 and
the accused did not give the key of
the lock to the police despite being
asked to give the same;
20. That the accused have taken
plea in the statements under section
313 Cr.P.C. That about 8-10 days
before the occurrence painting of
cluster had started and the navvies
used to take water from water tank
placed on the terrace of the flat and
then Hemraj had started locking the
door of the terrace and the key of
that lock remained with him. If it was
so then it was not easily possible
for an outsider to find out the key of
the lock of terrace door;

21. That if an outsider(s) may
have committed the crime in question
after locking the door of terrace and
had gone out of the flat then the
outer most mesh door or middle
mesh door must have been found
latched from outside;
22. That the motive of
commission of the crime has been
established;
23. That it is not possible that
after commission of the crime an
outsider(s) will dress-up the crime
scene;
24. That golf-club no.5 was
thrown in the loft after commission
of the crime and the same was
produced after many months by the
accused Rajesh Talwar;
25. That pattern of head and
neck injuries of both the accused
persons are almost similar in nature
and can be caused by golf-club and
scalpel respectively;
26.That the accused Rajesh
Talwar was a member of the GolfClub NOIDA and golfclubs were
produced by him before the CBI and
scalpel is used by the dentists and
both the accused are dentists by
profession; "The manner in which
the murders were committed is not
the handiwork of single accused
and rather the murders were
committed and evidence destroyed
by both the accused in furtherance
of their common intention which is
apparent from the facts and
circumstances" mentioned, the
judge said.

state government has entered
into an agreement with over
1654 medical graduates for
rendering rural service and only
284 graduates complied with it.

(VVPAT) of votes in 10 assembly
constituencies in Mizoram where
voters could see which candidate they
have voted for in a printout of their
votes. Tripathi said a total of Rs 7.86
crore was recovered in cash and Rs 9.6
crore worth of other things during
electioneering in MP, while 3.18 lakh
litres of liquor valued at 6.28 crore,
besides 30.80 lakh worth drugs and
narcotics were seized. A total of 95
cases of suspected paid news were also
reported. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh
Chouhan is contesting from Budhni and
Vidisha constituencies, while leader of
the opposition Ajay Singh is in fray
from Churhat constituency in Vidisha.

Cabinet okays transfer of Indu Mill land to
Maharashtra Govt for Ambedkar memorial
The Cabinet has approved a proposal to
transfer prime Indu Mill land in Mumbai
to Maharashtra governmnet for
constructing Dr B R Ambedkar memorial.
The decision was taken in the meeting of
the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Dr
Manmohan Singh.
It would empower the Centre to acquire
certain area of the Mill belonging to
National Textile Corporation Limited in
Mumbai for facilitation of the construction
of the memorial. After the meeting of the
Cabinet, highly placed sources said
government will bring a bill in Parliament
to facilitate the transfer of land to the State
Government. The ashes of Dr Ambedkar
are interred at Chaitya Bhoomi, which is
situated in the vicinity of the Indu Mill.

Dissidence won't be brooked, says Uddhav; Joshi apologises
Mumbai: Showing that he was in full control of
the party, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray
on Friday said that dissidents
were free to leave; while senior
party leader Manohar Joshi, who
had criticised his leadership
style recently, apologised.
"Those who don't like my
leadership, they are free to join
other parties. The doors are
open. I will not ask them to stay,"
Uddhav said, talking to reporters
after a meeting of Sena leaders which was attended
by Joshi and Mohan Rawale, another leader who
took potshots at Uddhav recently. Uddhav, who
was anointed president of the party after the death
of his father, Bal Thackeray, also expressed
confidence that he would "fly the (Sena's) saffron
flag atop the state Legislature on the strength of
loyal cadres".
"I met the party president today and made it

clear...Uddhav Thackeray's leadership is strong. If
my statements have unwittingly disrespected the party
president, I publicly apologise
for the same as party's
discipline requires it, and hope
that the issue would now close
finally," Joshi said in a
statement this evening. Joshi,
former Speaker of Lok Sabha
and former Maharashtra Chief
Minister, had publicly
criticised Uddhav last month.
He was later booed out by party workers from the dais
during the party's annual Dusshera rally. Rawale, who
was elected five times to the Lok Sabha from Mumbai
south-central constituency and considered a Bal
Thackeray loyalist, created a flutter in political circles a
few days go when he met MNS chief Raj Thackeray at
latter's residence earlier this month. Rawale was
reportedly disgruntled as he was unlikely to get the
ticket from Shiv Sena this time.
