INVESTIGATIVE AND COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION ON
AFRICA’S TOP MINING DESTINATIONS
Mining Indaba and Global Business Reports (GBR) have collaborated to bring a unique annual
report, Mining in Africa Country Investment Guide (MACIG). Each annual edition highlights a new
set of 15 to 20 of Africa’s most progressive mining jurisdictions. Filled with interviews from mining
ministers, analysts, mining CEOs, and more, MACIG offers qualitative and quantitative analysis on
why selected countries are ripe for foreign direct investment. Conference delegates in attendance
will receive a complimentary copy of the 3rd
annual edition.
MACIG is the only official publication providing
country-specific information at Africa's
key mining event, Investing in African Mining Indaba
in collaboration with
A DYNAMIC AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMME
As the market changes, so do the demands of our delegates. A
thorough remodel of the conference agenda includes the integration
of the Investment Discovery Forum (IDF) into the main agenda;
more market themed panels featuring more mining corporations
participating in panel discussions; a hybrid model for corporate
mining presentations of stand-alone presenters and CEO panel
discussions.
NEW OPENING TIME ON MONDAY MORNING!
You asked, we listened - our delegates wanted extended content
and exhibition hours. Be sure to arrange your travel for the earlier
opening time of 09:00 on Monday 8 February!
A MORE ENCOMPASSING INVESTOR PROGRAMME
Interest in the Mining Indaba Investor Programme tripled directly
after the launch of the VIP Investor Programme in 2015. The
enhanced 2016 programme accommodates varying levels of
investors. There are many benefits for accredited investors; be sure
to check out the details and get your application in! (See page 10)
ENHANCED NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
Three critical components have been added to enhance the
already robust, deal-making networking opportunities:
1. NEW commodity specific speed-networking sessions on
the exhibition floor
2. NEW Networking Roundtables - opportunities for small
groups of delegates to exchange business cards and
discuss critical market topics
3. A MORE personalised business matchmaking system to
better align networking opportunities with your business
interests

South Africa (and, more broadly, Africa) is
one of the global powerhouses in the mining
sector. On the other side, as two of the
world’s largest and fastest growing emerging
economies, China and India play a major role
in driving the global demand for commodities.
Given these factors, an analysis of how the
slowdown in China and faster growth in India
will affect the global mining sector emerges as
one of the most important questions in today’s
global economic environment. At the African
Mining Indaba Conference, I look forward to
sharing my perspective on this question.

In today’s environment, caution prevails in the mining industry due to the uncertainty of commodity prices.
The importance of understanding the risks and making well-informed business decisions is even more
critical. The African Mining Ministerial Forum, will showcase Mining Ministers from exciting destinations
across the continent, who will discuss developments in light of the present state of the industry. Each
Minister will outline their reserves as well as the case for investment both in the short and long-term. They
will highlight government initiatives that will safeguard stakeholders, therefore creating opportunities for
many questions and potential for more candid dialogues following the presentations.

Attracting the right skill set to the mining sector has never been more difficult. As the mining industry evolves with the latest cycle and
pushes to remain a competitive industry on the international stage, the skills and experiences required of graduates entering the sector are
also changing. In order to meet these new challenges, the 2016 Mining Indaba is launching an opportunity for mining companies, students
and graduates to interact on the Thursday morning of the event. The exhibition floor will host a number of HR representatives from the
leading players in Africa’s mining sector and a parallel careers workshop will also take place within the convention centre. The workshop
aims to be highly interactive with plenty of opportunity for students and recent graduates to discuss career prospects within the sector.
AGENDA FOR THE 2016 MINING INDABA CAREERS WORKSHOP
09:00 – 09:45 Overview of the global mining industry – What are the key trends?
09:45 – 10:30 Changing requirements – Identifying quality candidates for a mining sector role

INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THE MI YOUNG LEADERS CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME?
Registration will be required by Friday, 22 January 2016 and will be based on approval via an accreditation
process. More details can be found at www.miningindaba.com
As questions of sustainability increasingly take centre stage when considering the African mining vision, this year we will be working
with a number of new organisations and individuals, as well as our traditional partner ICMM, to expand the programme for Thursday
and ensure that it engagingly and effectively addresses this important subject. We look forward to announcing the full details of
the programme which is being developed with input from significant commentators on sustainability, and important organisations
including the African Development Bank, African Minerals Development Centre, Africa Union Commission, ICMM, Mining Dialogues
360˚, UNECA and the World Bank Group.

Each annual edition highlights a new set of 15 to 20 of Africa’s most progressive mining jurisdictions. Filled with interviews from mining ministers, analysts, mining CEOs, and more, MACIG offers qualitative and quantitative analysis on why selected countries are ripe for foreign direct investment. Conference delegates in attendance will receive a complimentary copy of the 3rd annual edition. MACIG is the only official publication providing country-specific information at Africa's key mining event, Investing in African Mining Indaba in collaboration with A DYNAMIC AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMME As the market changes, so do the demands of our delegates. A thorough remodel of the conference agenda includes the integration of the Investment Discovery Forum (IDF) into the main agenda; more market themed panels featuring more mining corporations participating in panel discussions; a hybrid model for corporate mining presentations of stand-alone presenters and CEO panel discussions. NEW OPENING TIME ON MONDAY MORNING! You asked, we listened - our delegates wanted extended content and exhibition hours. Be sure to arrange your travel for the earlier opening time of 09:00 on Monday 8 February! A MORE ENCOMPASSING INVESTOR PROGRAMME Interest in the Mining Indaba Investor Programme tripled directly after the launch of the VIP Investor Programme in 2015. The enhanced 2016 programme accommodates varying levels of investors. There are many benefits for accredited investors; be sure to check out the details and get your application in! (See page 10) ENHANCED NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES Three critical components have been added to enhance the already robust, deal-making networking opportunities: 1. NEW commodity specific speed-networking sessions on the exhibition floor 2. NEW Networking Roundtables - opportunities for small groups of delegates to exchange business cards and discuss critical market topics 3. A MORE personalised business matchmaking system to better align networking opportunities with your business interests THE MINING INDABA YOU ASKED FOR IS NOW HERE!

On the other side, as two of the world’s largest and fastest growing emerging economies, China and India play a major role in driving the global demand for commodities. Given these factors, an analysis of how the slowdown in China and faster growth in India will affect the global mining sector emerges as one of the most important questions in today’s global economic environment. At the African Mining Indaba Conference, I look forward to sharing my perspective on this question. - Dr. Anil K. Gupta 4
