In “The Road Not Taken,” Robert Frost writes figuratively
about the various choices we are compelled to make in life as
well as how agonizing and/or regrettable these decisions may
become as we progress through this journey.
In
The Bucket List
, Carter and Edward must make crucial decisions regarding how
to live out the rest of their lives after their diagnosis.
Explore how these men chose to live life to the fullest during
the limited time they had left on this earth, and how they both
experienced a transformation of character in regard to the
families they’d left behind.
What road(s) do they take throughout the movie, and how do
their ‘travels’ reflect the notion that Frost is trying to portray in
his poem?
Are they satisfied with the choices they’ve made, do they ‘sigh’
in regret of having taken the ‘road less travelled by,’ or have
these options made ‘all the difference’ in a positive fashion.
Again, use examples from the movie and the poem to prove
your point.
