In Aplysia's long-term facilitation, the transcriptional activator C/EBP enhances CREB1 expression by replacing CREB2, while the PKA and MAPK pathways phosphorylate CREB1. Additionally, there is a decrease in ribosomal protein expression to inhibit CREB2 production and a reduction in MAPK regulatory subunits. Increasing ubiquitin hydrolase expression contributes to the degradation of certain proteins.
