Islamic view of sex
The enemies of Islam are attacking Muslims
with many ways and one of it is sex. Muslims
need to be educated about sex in Islam even
though it is a taboo topic in most Muslim
culture so that we can prevent the enemies of
Islam to destroy us with sex. Islam has set
limits to the interaction between people of
different sex and people of the same sex.
Interestingly Islam’s view of sex education
differs from the non-Islamic teachings. Islam
teaches the Muslims on how to prevent sexual
activities rather than providing ways for their
people on how to have safe sex and the
scientific purposes behind it. It is really
important for people to learn on how people
should interact with one another and to
control their syahwat (lust). Verily prevention
is better than cure.
“Don’t ever come close to zina (adultery),
verily it is an horrendous an evil deed”
-Quran (17:32)-
It is important for someone to follow the
Islamic rules which are Ikhtilat, Khalwat and
Awrah when interaction is made either
between people of different sex and people of
the same sex. It is important for a Muslim to
abide by these rules to avoid from doing
anything close to zina and zina itself. These
rules teach people how to avoid from
following their emotions unlike several other
cultures which provides ways which are “safe”
for their people to have sex.
Ikhtilat is the limits put in interaction
between people of the same sex or the people
of different sex. Allah has stated in the Quran
(24:30), “ Tell the male believers to lower
their gaze and to take care their intimate
parts, so it will be more pure, Verily Allah
knows what they do”. Besides that, Islam also
has set a rule known as Khalwat which
literally means “solitude”. In other words,
when two people who are not mahram being
together at a close proximity in a secluded
space. The Awrah which literally means
“nakedness” has been neglected by many
Muslims but it plays an important role to
keep a healthy society. The rules are that a
man has to cover his navel until his knee and
a woman has to cover all parts of her body
other than the hands and the face. It is
important for a Muslim to cover their Awrah
so that people may not have any sexual
feelings for them. Salahuddin al-Ayyubi
quoted that “if you want to destroy any nation
without war, make adultery and nudity
common in the young generation”.
Many Muslim scholars have different
opinions on masturbation and its
permissibility. It is forbidden in the Twelver
school of Shia Islam and all of its associated
subdivisions. It is considered haram according
to the Maliki madhhab. The Hanafi madhhab
has a more permissive outlook. According to
Ibn Hazm and the Hanbali madhhab, it is
halal (permissible) only under two conditions:
first, the fear of committing fornication or
adultery, and second, not having the means to
marry. However, it is clearly stated in the
Quran (23:5-7),“And who guard their private
parts, except before their wives or those
whom their right hands possess, for they
surely are not blameable, but whoever seeks
to go beyond that, these are they that exceed
the limits” and in the hadith, narration
attributed to Anas ibn Malik
reports:“Rasulullah (‫لي‬ ‫ص‬ ‫هللا‬ ‫يه‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ع‬ ‫لم‬ ‫س‬ ‫)و‬
said, 'The person who performs Nikah with
his hands (i.e. masturbates) is cursed.’” People
should realize that only those who are
desperate would masturbate.
Sexual orientation has been a hot topic lately.
People say that Islam is an inhumane religion
for not supporting the LGBT rights. Muslims
should know and understand that sexual
orientation do not exist in Islam. Muslims
need to understand that these acts are
immoral and against human ethics. A person
cannot be born a gay or a lesbian; they are
made into one through education or
influences from other unethical cultures. We
should understand that emotions are for us to
control and religion has set limits for the
emotions we have even if its love. It is clearly
stated in the Quran that it is haram for
homosexuality in Islam, Quran (04:16), “If two
men of you are guilty for lewdness, punish
them both. If they repent and amend, leave
them alone, for Allah is Oft-Returning and all-
Merciful”. Muslims must remember that we
are human not animal as we have aqal (mind)
for us to overcome our emotions and if we
follow our emotions more than our mind, we
are much worse than the animals themselves.
Allah created Adam and Eve, not Adam and
Steve.
Sodomy or “the sins of Lot’s people” is not
new to the modern world and has been
prohibited by many religions even Islam.
Sodomy generally means anal sex or oral sex
between people or sexual activity between a
person and animal but may also include non-
procreative sexual activity. In the modern
days, terms such as blowjob, threesome and
other illicit terms to conceal the real meaning
of sodomy. Liwat (male-male intercourse) and
Sihaq (female-female rubbing) are both haram
under the Islamic law. Even the animals
themselves don’t do it so people with aqal
please think before you act.
Uncontrolled sexual activity can lead to many
problems among the society such as abortion,
infanticide and baby dumping. In Islam,
abortion is generally prohibited with exception
for maternal life, health and mental health.
Infanticide or baby dumping is haram under
the Islamic law even if it is because of
financial problems, Quran (17:31), “And do not
kill your children for fear of poverty, as we
are the one who gives them bounty and to
you too. Verily it is a big sin to kill them”.
Muslims should not be influenced easily by
the enemy of Islam because sex is one way for
them to mislead us Muslims. Moreover, this
group of people will trick the Muslims by
making the Muslims think that this is human
rights and equality for all mankind, it is really
important for us to abide by the rules and
regulations of Islam so we can take
precautions against these immoral deeds.
Leave the practices which contradict with
Islamic teachings. Think before you act
because we are not like animals which do
things without thinking.
