The chapter discusses how antigens are presented to T lymphocytes. Antigens must be processed and presented on major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules for recognition by T cell receptors. Antigen-presenting cells internalize and break down antigens into peptides that are then loaded onto MHC class I or class II molecules and expressed on the cell surface for surveillance by CD8+ or CD4+ T cells respectively.
