This chapter discusses the generation of lymphocyte antigen receptors. Lymphocytes develop antigen receptors through genetic recombination events during their development in the bone marrow and thymus. The chapter focuses on how B cells and T cells create a diverse repertoire of receptors to recognize the wide variety of pathogens and antigens through random genetic recombination and junctional diversity.
