2. WHO IS IKER CASILLAS
Iker Casillas is a spanish professional footballer(temporarily inactive) who plays as a goalkeeper
for Portuguese club, Porto.He was born in Mostoles(Madrid) on 20th May 1981.
Many people consider that Casillas is one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, specially from
Spain.
3. CAREER
Casillas has been playing for two big teams:
REAL MADRID
Casillas began his career in Real Madrid during the 1990–91 season. On 27 November 1997, at the
age of 16, he was first called up to the senior team squad to face Rosenborg in the UEFA Champions
League.
PORTO
After much speculation about his future, on 11 July 2015 Casillas signed with Porto on a two-year
deal with the option of a one-year extension.
4. TITLES
Casillas has won a lot of titles all over his career.This are some of the most important ones:
● UEFA EURO 2008:With the exclusion of his Real Madrid teammate Raúl from the squad for
Euro 2008, Casillas was given the captain's armband.
● 2010 World Cup:On 11 July 2010, Casillas captained Spain to their first ever World Cup title
with a 1–0 win against the Netherlands.
● UEFA EURO 2012:On 1 July 2012, Casillas became the first player to reach 100 international
wins for his country as Spain defeated Italy 4–0 in the Euro 2012 final.
He has also won 3 UEFA Champions League and 6 national leagues.(5 with R.Madrid
and 1 with FC Porto)
5. INFARCT
On 1 May 2019 he suffered a myocardial infarction(infarct) during the training of F.C. Porto The
goalkeeper had to be hospitalized, but he recovered without problems.
While recovering from this ailment he became part of the technical team of the Portuguese team.
