C’est un petit concentré des beautés méditerranéennes, une petite île au bout de la route du Brusc à Six-Fours-les plages, une petite balade, une heure pas plus, qui nous émerveille…
Il y a un parking tout près ( payant en été), mais il est préférable de commencer la balade au petit port du Brusc en longeant par la promenade récemment aménagée la lagune du Brusc, classée « natura 2000 ». En passant le petit pont qui nous permet d’accéder à l’île du Petit Gaou, il faut admirer le paysage fabuleux à gauche sur le cap Sicié et ses hautes falaises, puis par la passerelle entrer sur l’île du Gaou. Un sentier, accessible à tous (y compris les poussettes d’enfants ou les fauteuils roulants) fait le tour de l’île. Côté continent, les vues sur la lagune, le cap Nègre, Bandol et au loin la Sainte-Baume sont magnifiques.
L’arrivée sur la passe entre le Gaou et les Embiez l’est tout autant, et puis, quelques pas plus loin, on est face à la Grande Bleue, la dominant depuis les rochers déchiquetés de cette partie de côte qui font furtivement penser à une côte bretonne, la végétation de pins bruissant de cigales nous rappelant qu’il n’en est rien…
