Working in the world of global communications requires a diverse and detailed knowledge of other countries. And we’re not just talking time zones, languages and geography.
A successful campaign relies on local knowledge of all kinds. From the general (“What’s the most popular newspaper in Poland?”), to the useful (“Where’s the main airport?), through to the absolutely essential (“How do I pitch a journalist in Portugal?”)
We hope our pocket-size guide to global media relations will help with just a few of these. If you still have a question, just give our local office a call.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE SECTORS
MANUFACTURING
Britain’s manufacturing industry employs 2.6 million people and
accounts for half of all UK exports, making it the 10th largest goods
exporter in the world. We have a manufacturing industry to be proud of
and there’s never been a more important time to keep it in the spotlight.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
The UK’s energy market involves three key elements: making
electricity through generation, transporting gas and electricity and
selling it to the customer. Energy companies can work in any of these
different areas, and some operate in all of three.
The prominence of environmental legislation means the sector is
predicted to grow both in the UK and internationally. There is a drive to
pursue clean, renewable and sustainable practices.
CREATIVE & DIGITAL
The UK has a long and successful history of trading with all parts
of the world and its creative industries are a huge success story,
delivering over £15.5bn of exports in 2011, approximately 8% of all
UK exports (Source: Government Statistics). The growth strategy
developed by UK Government in conjunction with industry leaders
aims to double creative exports by 2020.
IFB 2016 SECTOR FOCUS
Working with UKTI we have developed a sector focus for each week. These three key sectors are ones which have the greatest potential for UK
growth and export. Across all of these sectors there are enablers which are relevant and also have potential to grow in international markets.
