The document discusses a design development workshop conducted by IDPMS for sisal craft artisans in Kuderumole village, Karnataka to introduce new skills and product designs utilizing locally available sisal fibers. Currently the artisans mainly produce ropes and braids from sisal but the workshop aimed to teach techniques like braiding, frame construction and dyeing to make finished products like bags, bins and pouches. Over 30 artisans participated and learned skills like removable frame making, stitching, and a standardized dyeing procedure to color the sisal fibers for craft production.
