Determination of the
problem
Violence against women is a burning issue in today’s
context even though many women are empowered and
aware now. In Nepal, although, women are leading in
many sectors, there are many girls especially in slum
areas who are facing harassment and violence.
How it is determined?
When we read in the newspapers about the cases of women and girls
who are facing the problems of violence, we observed cases of women
and girls violence in one month as recorded in the newspapers. There are
hundreds of such cases unrecorded throughout the country. In this
situation, we decided to do what is possible within our capability and
then started a project named “STUDENTS UNITING AGAINST VIOLENCE
(SAVE)”. In this project we will ask support from the volunteer groups or
various organizations that are working in the field of girls/ women
violence in Nepal. We will collect some money from the students
voluntarily and will use that money to support the orphanage by providing
some support. The support program will be targeting local slums. The
types of cases and their number according to the newspaper from
January 26th to February 27.

Problem Area
We have selected a local slum in Bhaktapur ( Manohara slum) which consists of
600 households as our problem area. The target of our project "Students
Uniting Against Violence(SAVE)" is to aware the girls and women of this slum
about violence by interacting with them in a positive manner and through
awareness campaigns. We especially are targeting the teenage girls in this
local slum as they have less security and facilities compared to the slums of
Kathmandu. We are also planning to give some materialistic support to the
slum girls and some health advices.

Nepal. Our plan is to collect some money from the students of our school voluntarily and use it to
support the girls of the slums by providing them some sanitary materials and giving some hygiene tips.
The support program will be targeting the women teenage girls of the slums aged 12-16 as in the slums ,
the girls are less protected and backward than those of normal society.
We intend and expect to extend our support and help the needy and underprivileged
girls between 12-16 years of dwelling at the slum area of manohera bank .as per our
road
map we will be beginning with the distribution of sanitary kits like detol, bandage ,towel,
etc and also reached information on girls . Not only this we target to teach them
defense technique on self defence and for this we plan to take help from our karate gold
–medalist Ms . Manisha rana bhatt .we know that this is not going to be an easy task as
we are anticipating the rough road ahead of us, as the target group belongs to very
conservative and dominated. But definitely this is not going to deter us from our goal.
Moreover with the very limited budget and resources it may not be possible to meet the
expectation completely. But our group feels that if we can arises the fund by donation or
holding a fund raising concert
