2. Definition of Language
 Language is the expression of ideas by means of speech-sounds combined
into words. (Henry Sweet, an English phonetician and language scholar)
 A language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which a

 ICT means Information and Communication Technology and refers to the
combination of manufacturing and services industries that capture, transmit and
display data and information electronically (OECD 2002: 18; SAITIS 2000: 3)
 The simple definition of ICT is that Information and communication technologies
(ICTs) are the technologies used in the conveying, manipulation and storage of
data by electronic means.

4. ICT and LANGUAGE
ICT can also give adverse effects to change the language in the development
of modern society, the Indonesian people tend to be happier and feel more
intelligent to use a foreign language. This has an impact on the growth of the
language as their national identity. Finally, the popularity of English makes the
Indonesian shifted on the level of use. Various causes a shift in the use of
Indonesian, not only due to the foreign language but also caused by the
interference of regional languages and the influence of slang. Today the
foreign language is used more often than Indonesian in almost all sectors of
life. For example, the Indonesian people more often attached to the phrase
"No Smoking" instead of "dilarang merokok", "Stop" to "berhenti", "Exit" to
"keluar", and "Open House" for a reception at the home at the time of Eid,
and still many other examples which identifies that the Indonesian people, it
treats foreign languages have value.

 ICT influence our daily basis, including the language that we used, we
tend to make a new word.
 Language also get affected by ICTs. People easily get information from
internet and that become a new trend lately. , the increasingly widespread
use of slang used by most modern societies,
