ICT sector in India grew 14.7% in 2012 with exports growing 16.5% to $76B and domestic market growing 10.7% to $36B. Telecom sector revenues grew 3.6% to INR 296,000 cr in 2011-12. The telecom industry faced challenges after the NTP 2011 policy including frozen expansion, cancelled licenses, shutdown of operators, and declining mobile subscriptions and ARPU. Broadband penetration remained low.
