This document discusses preliminary thoughts on collaborating across fields to challenge formats for new media history from Meghan Dougherty of SUNY IT, Jamaica Jones of NOAA, and Steven M. Schneider of SUNY IT. It describes the evolution of archives from bureaucratic and limited access (Archive 1.0), to mechanized and digitized (Archive 2.0), to focusing on access, enrichment, and extensible architectures (Archive 3.0). The document advocates telling stories and serving data while confronting archives of new media from significant events like the September 11 attacks.
