SRI LANKA IS AN ISLAND COUNTRY LOCATED OFF THE
SOUTHERN COAST OF INDIA.
SRI LANKA IS A MEMBER OF THE ASIA-PACIFIC TRADE
AGREEMENT (APTA) AND THE SOUTH ASIAN ASSOCIATION
FOR REGIONAL COOPERATION (SAARC).
THE GOVERNMENT SYSTEM IS A REPUBLIC; THE CHIEF OF
STATE AND HEAD OF GOVERNMENT IS THE PRESIDENT.
SRI LANKA HAS TRANSITIONED TO A MARKET-
ORIENTATED ECONOMY, BUT THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT
IS STILL INVOLVED IN ECONOMIC PLANNING.

6. Political Environment
Sri Lanka is a semi-presidential representative
democratic republic, whereby the President of Sri
Lanka is both head of state and head of
government.
The president is elected for a five-year term by the
people, the constitution of sri lanka has two
requirements for any candidate to be decelared
winner.
To win 50%+1 vote of the total valid vote.
President : Ranil Wickremesinghe (20 July 2022).
Prime Minister : Dinesh Gunawardena
(22 July 2022).
7. Economical Environment
The Economy of sri lanka is a mixed economy in
which private sector and state sector enterprises
engage.
Sri lanka is a middle income nation with a
development agenda focused on accelerating
economic growth, ensuring good governance, food
security, gender equality and geographic and socio-
economic development.
An increasingly siginificant portion of sri lanka's
roreign finincial inflows by FDI
In 2022, sri lanka ranked 105 in the world bank
index.
8. Society and Culture
Society:
Sri Lanka is a collectivistic societyindividuals often
perceive themselves to be members of their ethnic ,
religious or linguistic group rather than individual
and autonomous actors.
Sri lanka places high focus on education (92.38%
literacy rate)
Culture:
Sri lanka is a land of great cultural diversity, sri
lanka have two official languages Sinhala, Tamil
and English is also spoken throughout the country.
The traditional attire worn by women is kandyan
saree and sarong for men
9. Technological environment
Information Technology in Sri Lanka refers to
business process outsourcing, knowledge process
outsourcing, software development, IT Services,
and IT education in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is always ranked among the top 50
outsourcing destinations by Colombo.
Ranked among "Top 20 Emerging Cities" by Global
Services Magazine.
Sri lanka Ranked 85th in Global Innovation Index.
On 10 june 2022 Sri lanka introduce new Ministry of
Technology and Investment Promotion to boost
foreign investment.
10. Legal environment
Sri Lanka has a mixed legal system, with both civil
law and common law aspects. The legislative
system is quasi-unitary with some legislative
powers of the parliament delegated to nine
provincial councils.
This mixture is a result of the diverse history of the
island as a result criminal law is based on English
law while much of the common law is Roman-Dutch
law, with certain aspects such as marriage, divorce,
and inheritance associated with Kandian law,
Thesavalamai and Muslim law based on the
community and geography.
Currently the general law applicable to sri lanka are
English Laws, R & D law and the statue law created
by own parliament.
Property laws are still influenced by Criminal Laws
and procedures are mainly influenced by English
Laws .
11. FOREIGN TRADE
Sri Lanka exports mostly textiles and garments
(40% of total exports) and tea (17%). Others
include: spices, gems, coconut products, rubber
and fish. Main export partners are United States,
United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and Italy.
Sri Lanka imports petroleum, textile fabrics,
foodstuffes and machinery and transportation
equipment. Main import partners are India, China,
Iran and Singapore.
Sri Lanka recorded a trade deficit of 285 USD
Million in October of 2022.
Sri Lanka's exports grew 21% during the first six
months of the year and earned $5 billion for the
crisis-hit country, according to official figures
released.
