1. My life story
Since I was five years old, I have found myself interested in art, so I started to
learn music. I learned bamboo flute and violin. Gradually, I found out music and art
are what I am passionate about. However, when I went to middle school, I did not
have time to practice because of the busy school work. Although I did not continue
to learn instruments, I surprisingly found out drawing could be an interesting thing
for me. I did not hesitate to pursue my dream of being an artist, so I took an exam to
join the professional art class in my middle school in Taiwan. Fortunately, I got into
the class. We had more than six art classes per week and I learned more knowledge
about art in a more professional way. In such a young age, I learned how to draw
Chinese traditional paintings and how to use a Chinese writing brush with ink. It was
extremely difficult to control the brush, but I knew that after I accomplished this, I
would become a better drawer. Furthermore, I am not only interested in Chinese
paintings but also oil paintings.
Since oil painting is not easy to learn, I not only spent time in art class to
practice my drawing skills, but I also stayed after school and went to the art studio to
practice in order to improve my profession. I felt it was extremely worthy to spend
several hours on the subject that I love, art. I feel content and satisfied when I am
drawing because I always record the happiness and sadness that happen in my daily
life. This is the best way for me the express my own feelings. After I gained more
knowledge about oil paintings, I found out the most important thing of art is
patience. I spent more than three months to finish an oil painting. I kept telling
myself that it was ok if I made a mistake. I only needed to erase it and do it all over
again. I did not feel frustrated by doing this over and over again because I believed
those endurance and trainings would make me become a better artist.
Surprisingly, my oil painting was selected to be showed in the exhibition. I was
joyful and I felt I got closer to the dream of being an artist. To me, art is not only
about drawing, but it is also about dancing. When I was in Taiwan, I was the captain
of dance club in my high school. I led the team and joined many competitions. And
we gained a good reputation because of our hard work and talents.
I feel extremely content when I draw and dance because drawing and dancing
give me confidence and contentment. In college, I want to discover more and learn
more knowledge about art because it is the best way for me to express my true
feelings. I also want to meet more people who are interested in art because I believe
they would teach me many things that I will not learn by practicing. We can share
our experiences of pursuing the dream of drawing.
