2. This song is an oxymoron. The melody
and music are upbeat, but the lyrics
are dark. We wanted to marry and
compliment both aspects with this
music video by focusing on the darker
aspects and adding comedic relief,
which fits Cat’s personality.
The main premise of the “I Don’t”
music video is to capture the
audience’s attention and convey the
feelings of entrapment, loneliness, and
self actualization.

3. Songs like “I Don’t” tend to have a
mushy-gushy relationship or bad
breakup storyline, but we wanted to
capture those feelings in a different
way, again through the feelings of
entrapment, loneliness, and self
actualization within a doll house.

4. We open with a still shot of the doll
house. Slowly we zoom in to see 4
rooms: a black room with minimal
lighting, a kitchen, a living room, and a
bathroom. The camera continues to
zoom in to the dark room, where we
see a bed and a mirror.
We see Cat laying on the bed (shown
from the waist up). We see mysterious
hands holding Cat down and messing
with her hair, face, and arms. She is
struggling to get up but eventually
gets away and crawls off the bed
towards the wall where she is met with
a reflection of herself through a mirror.

5. Up until this point, Cat is not singing.
She then slams her hand on the mirror
and sings “‘Cause I don’t like this, this
in-between bullshit and I don’t want
this anymore.”
The mysterious hands come back and
grab Cat as she is getting pushed
around in the black room. Cat is then
pulled to her right (swish pan) as we
see the scene transfer to the kitchen.

6. We now see Cat sitting in the kitchen
with her band standing behind. There
is no interaction between the two. Cat
is sitting with one hand on her cheek
and is singing directly to the camera.
She sings the bridge and starts Verse
2 here.
Her band is dressed in weird
costumes. The mysterious hands
appear once again and Cat gets
pulled up to the living room.

7. We now see Cat in the living room
laying in distress on the couch like she
is talking to a shrink. She finishes
singing Verse 2.
We see Cat sitting up on the couch on
the phone getting angry about
something. Cat takes her phone and
throws it. The camera follows the
phone (swish pan) and the scene is
transitioned to the bathroom.

8. We see Cat standing in the bathroom with
makeup all over her face. There is makeup
brushes and pallets all over the sink. She is
trying to wash it off. She is talking in the
mirror as if she is talking to the person who
hurt her going back in forth almost between
anger, confusion, and reasoning. Here she is
singing “and I’m not one to pretend..”
In the background, we see someone in the
shower who peaks around the shower
curtain acting like What the heck are you
doing in my bathroom? (Can we get a Danny
Devito look alike?) The two do not interact.
We then see Cat approach the bathroom
door and she reaches to turn the door knob.

9. The door burst open and she flies
forward. Cat falls into a dark void as
we see flashes of her in the bathroom,
living room, and kitchen. These
moments will be comedic. Cat
continues to fall until she lands in the
bed back in the dark room, exactly
where she started. The mysterious
hands appear for the final time as they
push her down and cover her mouth.
