This document outlines an assignment for a course on teaching. Students must write objectives, outcomes and assessments for a course unit or lesson. They must explain why they chose the objectives and link the objectives to outcomes and assessments. Students will research journal articles to support their paper, which is due September 30th but can submit a draft on September 25th for feedback. Assignments must be submitted through Turnitin and late submissions will be penalized 5% per day.

Assignment 1:
You will need to review the content of the initial two lectures to complete this assignment.
1. You will need to think carefully about the course you are currently teaching and write down 3
different objectives for that course. These should be focused on a particular unit or even one lesson.
2. You now need to think of 1-3 outcomes for each of these objectives.
3. Now you are expected to write down the ways in which you will assess these outcomes.
4. Finally, you will be required to write a paper to discuss the following:
a. Why did you select these particular objectives?
b. What are the links between the objectives and outcomes that you have selected?
c. Why is the method of assessment you chose relevant to each of these outcomes?
In order to successfully complete this assignment, you will need to do a lot of individual learning. You will have to
research for Journal articles and other relevant sources and reference them as appropriate when writing. You will
also be expected to identify the links between the objectives and outcomes and the mode of assessment on your
own. You may choose any form of assessment you think is relevant, however, you will need to provide evidence of
you think so.
The criteria of how this paper will be marked are available in the attached rubric.
You will be expected to submit this assignment by Monday the 30th of September. You may submit one draft by the
25th of September if you want to receive feedback before the deadline.
* It is important to note that all written assignment should be submitted to Turnitin.com. You will receive an email
detailing how to enroll in my class on Turnitin and how to submit your assignments. Late submissions will be
accepted, however, for every day the assignment is late, 5% will be deducted.
