HuskyTHON targets February 26th for fundraising goal
Storrs, Connecticut. Thursday, February 26th the HuskyTHON foundation will be experimenting
with a new fundraising technique called 24, 25, 26. The goal is to raise $25,000 in 24 hours to
benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Potential donators are encouraged to consider
contributing on February 26th to help the HuskyTHON team reach their goal of $25,000 in 24
hours.
HuskyTHON is an 18-hour dance marathon that will begin on March 7th, 2015. What is now the
largest student-run philanthropy in the state, different organizations on the University of
Connecticut’s campus will come together and dance to raise money for the kids!
The money that is raised throughout the year and during the 18-hour dance marathon benefits the
children being treated at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and their families. The cost
of caring for a sick child can be stressful; HuskyTHON’s goal is to ease some of the pain for the
children and their families by financially supporting them.
Rachel Buck has been an 18-hour dancer for the marathon for three consecutive years, and is
now a representative for the event. She states, "We dance every year to make sure kids can be
kids. HuskyTHON is about giving these miracle children the ability to just be kids, regardless of
the hardships they face every day. Last year, our miracle family told us that their child enjoyed
HuskyTHON more than Christmas morning, and that's why I dance every year." The time and
dedication Rachel and her team have put in over the past few months have paved the road for yet
another successful HuskyTHON.
